Yeah that is good news, James Nice always handles with care.
It would be nice to see the US Innocence 12" get a remastered release on CD. The Love To Infinity remix of the title track as well as b side Satisfied have languished on obscure vinyl for too long.
Very good news indeed - I'm almost tempted (there's still quite a number of LTM releases I haven't yet got but want) to buy a couple to find out if they're on the free sampler CDR! :)
Personally, I'm hoping that some of the TV Theme versions appear on the reissues
It'd be good to see all the TO2 12" / CD Singles rereleased on a double CD or something.

This is fantastic news! I'm thrilled The Other Two catalog is being reissued. Superhighways is nigh-impossible to find.
This would be great, especially if it included the obscure recordings which are all great. It took me a long time to find Satisfied, and it's only an mp3, so a nice CD remaster would be great.

Spoke to James - the plan is (as expected) the 2 albums with bonus remixes from the singles (but not all of them of course). He did mention there may be something on there previously unreleased.

This MIGHT be interesting if they dig up some of the obscure soundtrack work - Technique/Making Out, Common as Muck, Crackers... Album-wise the Other Two spent 18 years making the Lightning Seeds sound like Joy Division.
Would love to hear any as-yet unreleased commercial, soundtrack or session demo material. I know they've both been quite active over the past few years, if anonymously. If they're serious about pursuing this full-time again who knows-maybe we'll even see a whole third album!
LTM and The Other Two... & you LTM has announced full details of its reissues of the two albums released by The Other Two, the band formed by Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert of New Order in the Nineties.
The Other Two & You and Super Highways are both remastered with extra tracks, new artwork and detailed sleevenotes.
Both albums are released on 25 January 2010 and are available from usual stockists and LTM Mail Order.

Disappointing I'm afraid, unless you don't have the original albums. Needed some of their soundtrack work to make it worth buying for me - LTM's One True Passion was excellent but then I didn't have the original album.

Really looking forward to these-I plan on getting both of them and am particularly excited about Superhighways. Seeing as I live in the US though I'm a little concerned about how the mailorder will play out for me...

I remember searching high and low at my local HMV for both the Super highways CD single and album on the day they supposedly came out back in '99. (Christ has it really been a decade?!) Anyhoo, after much searching I eventually found one copy of each and they were going for £4.99 and £17.99 respectively. HMV hadn't even bothered to put the album or single in the "New Releases" section or given them the right pricing.
That album never really stood a chance and indeed all the side projects material suffered a similar fate around that time. With the mother ship (NO) back on the scene all three of them tanked immediately regardless of any good tuneage left in the wreckage. Shame.
"The Grave" from SH is immense sounding on a good Hi-Fi in a pitch black room; experimental, dark, moody, ambient...

Agreed: I adore Superhighways and its a true shame it did so poorly. Combine the mysterious ambiance of the aforementioned tracks with the soaring, charging perfection of You Can Fly, the title track, One Last Kiss and Cold Feet and you've got one hell of an impressive record. I was always sorry they were never more recognised for the brilliant stuff they put out. I'm happy their appearance on NIN's Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D album helped keep awareness of them out at least a little.
The limited release and extensive delay surely didn't help them though. You were lucky to get those albums when you did: The cheapest I've seen a used copy of Superhighways going for today is about $80. It's the understatement of the century to say I'm looking forward to these re-releases and the new album.

No, Autosound is an instrumental. Sounds like it's from the earlier years of O2 (early 90's).
Sawdust is a bit of a naughty one - it's basically Movin' On but with an, albeit nice, alternate backing track.

I traded e-mails w/ someone from darla.com about the bonus disc when it was first announced. they confirmed with James that the bonus disc will NOT be available to those who order both titles from darla.com

I got the O2 CDs today, but I noticed that there is a mastering a problem on The Other Two & You, the highs are too high & the low ends are muffled. Anyone else have this problem?

I would guess that the soundtrack work would be copyrighted by the respective TV programmes?
Only interested in the Super Highways CD, but the bonus tracks on that one I already have on the Super Highways CD single.
Can't help but feeling slightly disappointed on that one.
We should remember that besides the main albums TOT didn't really release a whole lot of other tracks. A few remixes on the singles, most of which are still available on Ebay for pennies and as for the TV soundtrack work, Nick's got a point maybe the copyrights involved were restrictive to what LTM could reasonably put out. The main album track listings as they stand look great and contain the respective best remixes of each era. Not sure what more they were meant to include?
If we're gonna be ultra picky maybe the Quake Vocal Mix of You Can Fly should have been on the Super Highways CD in place of Tasty Fish K-Klass but that's not such a big deal.
I'm also a bit disappointed that Satisfied didn't make the final cut, again licensing issues perhaps? Who knows... guess our crackly vinyl transfers are all we're gonna get there.
I am glad to see the Love To Infinity mix of Innocence made the bonus disc though; it's a cracking mix and of course it'll be interesting to hear Autosound & Sawdust.

Bonus disc looks a bit disappointing.
Was going to buy both discs to get the Bonus. However, now I think I'll get only "Superhighways" (only ever had that on mp3). I have an original London CD of the debut anyway.
As I'm a tight arse I'll probably get "Superhighways" off Amazon (only £7.98 with free delivery).
I emailed James Nice the other day just to say that I'd received the CD's safely and also took the opportunity to cheekily ask if there were any more plans in the pipeline for OT CD's and why 'Satisfied' wasn't included...
He replied that he would like to do a CD of their soundtrack work. But no mention of possible release date. It was Steve & Gillian that personally chose the tracks for the re-issues and and so it was their decision that they didn't want to include 'Satisfied'. He doesn't have a clue why they didn't want it on there, but it's not LTM's fault!
Oh, and the K-Klass mix of 'Tasty Fish' is from around the Super Highways period of 98-99 so it fits more on there than it would on the debut. It was, I imagine, meant to be a bonus track on the CD single of You Can Fly or Super Highways?
The 'You Can Fly'-CD singles look pretty limited to me. Anyone got mp3's of these?! Looks like there was a single version, an album version and a special edit of the album version which is quite different also. Only the album version is on the newly remastered Super Highways CD.

The versions of You Can Fly on the withdrawn CD singles are not hugely different to the album version; just straight up edits. Imagine a bit of the intro chopped off, earlier fade etc and there you have it.
Who knows why they swapped in Super Highways at the last minute especially as the CD Singles for You Can Fly were clearly already manufactured. Seemed a pointless waste and the same thing happened to Electronic's Late At Night the same year. You'll be lucky to find 'em these days; they've become rarities in the same league as Until The End Of Time.
Warners/London really did such a botched job on the whole SH album though; really screwed up any potential at the time.

The Tasty Fish K-Klass mix originally appeared on the Innocence 12" (USA only) in very early '95. This is the same release that contains Satisfied so unless this is a brand new K-Klass effort it doesn't really belong in the 98-99 period at all.
Selfish had been released just two years previous in '93 and it was another four full years until anything regarding Super Highways would be released.
That mix really should have gone on the "TOT & You" remaster in my mind. (If it's the K-Klass Mix I think it is)
No big deal mind... just glad to have it on CD.

Yes, once again it's too compressed!
I shot an e-mail to LTM asking them for a replacement, as I thought it may have been a defect, I got a reply stating that is the way the album is supposed to sound, as it was an official & authorized remaster.
...I only sprang for "Super Highways" in the end as I already have the debut on the London original. I am still waiting for the disc at the mo - is "Super Highways" blighted by a compressed sound as well?

Definitely want to know if Super Highways has the same problems. I can order tomorrow in our country, which is Holland by the way.
I hope "Super Highways" is not compressed - the reason I am buying it is to upgrade on the ITunes mp3 files I bought ages ago.
I wouldn't be totally surprised though. I was listening today to Section 25's new CD "Nature & Degree". Some great tunes - much better than the last two New Order albums. The tracks with the female vocals actually remind me of classic Other Two tracks. However, the sound on this LTM CD really puts me off - there is virtually no dynamic range.
I was waiting to buy LTM's reissue of Certain Ratio's "Force" album (due for release in February). However, after recent loud CDs I spotted a Factory original on eBay and bought that instead.
LTM's CD version of Quando Quango's Pigs + Battleships is quite good though. It's from 2003 if I'm correct. The same year the Revenge CD's were done.

I'm kind of glad that satisfied isn't on there since i'd only recently purchased the qwest innocence 12". it cost a bit too much really as I don't think the k-klass mixes are much good. The love to infinity mix is brilliant though.
Can someone talk about what the bonus tracks are like? I'm most interested in knowing what the pascal mixes are like.
Finally, they arrived yesterday! However, The Other Two And You has no transparent jewel/inlay case like Super Highways does. Looks a bit/slighty different in layout also, but that's a minor issue, I will give away the 1st album because I already have all the tracks on it

Warning : This CD is loud ....stupidly loud.
On my amp I can only get to about the first 10% of my volume control before the music is too loud. This is ridiculous - as you can see from the graphic analysis of the first track "You can fly" the CD is completely brickwalled :-
...I thought LTM was above this sort of malarkey. I thought record companies had realized by now that this is not what we want. The CD is completely relentless in it's sound quality - it just batters you into submission. This is so disappointing - the original London was so rare that I only had mp3 files from iTunes. I was therefore looking to this CD for a sonic upgrade but this new CD has no dynamic range.
...I am going to have to go for lie down now the CD has given me a headache.
P.S If James Nice is reading this - you need to be careful about this mate. Previous CDs on LTM have mostly been OK - this is the loudest one I've heard yet. I for one will be very careful before buying any more LTM discs.

I was so excited to hear about LTM's remaster project of this one because, also, I never got a London copy back in 1999. Searched for it on fairs and music stores but never succeed. Finally 10-and-a-half years later I got a copy, only to experience this farce. It reminded me of the New Order disaster in late 2008, except for the fact that this one is not from vynil and doesn't have the clicks and pops and/or volume drop-outs.
Just listened to this CD in my hi-fi stereo set (a JVC from 1996) and normally I listen to my music at about 30% of the volume ... with Super Highways I got a 'BANG!'-erlebnis with the opening track and the rest ... had to turn down the volume immediately because of my ears and the neighbours ... this is now on 7% of the volume AND STILL LOUD !!!

Another issue I found out: The 2nd track (Super Highways) is different than on the CD-single (London, twocd3) . I thought they were identical. The intro is weird and the track is faded out instead of the abrupt ending as I know. I was wondering if this is the same case on the original London album CD.
From LTM I bought the two Revenge CD's, the Cool As Ice/Twice As Nice CD's and a Quando Quango CD. They all were good.
I will not buy any more CD's from LTM. Period.
Yes they clearly had the master tapes for this release.
There is no excuse - the person who did the mastering for LTM is a cretin.
To be honest and while I myself am no fan of brickwalled mastered CDs, I only really bought both of them for the bonus disc which as far as I can tell via Cool Edit is not brickwalled and has some interesting stuff on it. I was never all that pissed off with the sound of my original O2 CDs so they're still the main rips I listen to.
Sound issues aside, it's obvious now "Movin On" must have been in the running to be a single at some point; possibly after Tasty Fish. The acoustic guitar on "Sawdust" also seems to be replicating the chorus melody to Bizarre Love Triangle pretty faithfully... Autosound is a nice bit of early 90s ambient dance... these little extras are more than we'd get from most bands really.
An interesting listen and for those interested the Moby Mix of Selfish on the debut reissue is NOT the same as the one on the Selfish Qwest CD Single. Same sort of "vibe" but definitely a different remix.

Well, "Culvers Edge" is lovely (but then I love the song they made from it as well) and "Jonno and Sean" is fantastic! I missed the chance to download them though, looks like Soundcloud only allows 100 or so downloads. Oh well.

Well, Soundcloud has let me download the tracks now, and mighty fine they are. "Jonno and Sean" sounds even better blasted out loud. Those complaining about the sound quality must be in a super picky/moaning mood.

I've been listening to them off the site for the past few days - great stuff - only this morning realised they are downloadable - brilliant! Got the 6 now - they'll be on constant now till i get the remasters from LTM for the next birthday.
Bought the lot for the bonus disc, which was worth it.
Shame that America's Most Wanted wasn't there.
Nice. At least some clue as to why Satisfied didn't make it on the remasters; US licensing issues most likely. We can stop moaning (briefly) now

i just got superhighways.. and though it sounds decent (i don't have the original for comparison)..
the sound is incredibly brickwalled, and lots of levels are pushed up really high.. ugh...

I was pretty disgusted with the brickwalled sound on last years LTM reissue of Superhighways.
I just found an original Japanese issue of the disc on eBay (1999 disc with 2 bonus tracks) - does anyone know if the mastering is better on these original discs i.e less compressed?
OK I have answered my own question by purchasing the 1999 Japanese version of Super highways.
First here is the laughable mastering of the 1st track on the horrible new LTM version of the disc:-
OMG this is almost 100% brickwalled. LTM should be ashamed of themselves. This disc will give you a headache in very short order. I remember when I asked James Nice about this he said "this is how the disc is supposed to sound" ?!
Anyway onto my recently purchased used example of the Japanese "Super Highways" - here is the same track analysed :-
..ah that's a little better - we have at least some dynamic range. While this disc is still not exactly a paragon of good mastering - it is far better than the horrible LTM disc.
I asked LTM last year to re-do this release (especially Super Highways), because of that IDIOTIC LOUD BRICKWALLED remaster from januari 2010. I never got a reply ofcourse. As if they 'knew what they were doing' (!).
Well, they're 'wrong' on this one.
I know 5 people who bought this last year and all 5 are dissappointed in it in a very big way. Especially because there's not a chance in the world to get the original one from 1999 (which I tried myself for 10 years!).
Yes Luke the 1999 UK disc does seem to be rare. I was lucky to stumble on a Japanese 1999 copy. I listened to this Japanese disc from start to finish earlier tonight and it sounds fine. What a pleasure to hear this great album again. I couldn't make it past the first few tracks on the LTM remaster as it was so painful to listen to.

...thanks for that - looks very similar to my Japanese disc.
Doesn't matter how loud or how compressed "You Can Fly" is.... it's still a steaming crock of histrionic hand-bag raping shite.
Everything about that track is so awful I get a headache even when the mute button is pressed. The Superhighways album can happily exist as an 11 track release minus this sole clunker.
