Out of 5, I would rate it 2, and thats respectable, I would rate it a 1. The music is decent but the new album stinks IMO, its just the singer I really cant stand him thats all i hate. And fo some1 in another thread saying we waited 5 years and we got that, that basically sums it up. And for the band to split before the album, just plain wrong. Mani right the new album should be bottom of bargain bin at Walmart. Their Ep is not too bad, but overpiced i say on amazon, I will pass Freebase. Try again Peter.

In an effort to balance things out I will say what I like about Freebass. Well, the negatives have been done to death so....
The three FB tracks I do have time for are You Don't Know (This About Me), The Milky Way Is Our Playground and Kill Switch Pt. 141. They're all genuinely good tunes I revisit on the iPod frequently enough. The first half of the EP was extremely promising indeed, it's just a shame (in my opinion) that the album didn't cut the mustard.
Kill Switch is not a "single" category song but it's the high point of the album for me; flows along with a nice groove and combination of sounds. I'd be interested in an extended instrumental of that one or possibly a drugged out 10 minute remix. It's ripe for someone like the Sabres of Paradise to work their trippy magic on it.
The rest, nah... tried and failed to like it. "Unique" vocalist? Maybe, dunno. I think the lack of a strong single provided no "in" for listeners; it's all a bit samey. On the other hand, the Burgess track on the EP was the closest they got to a proper hit single and is very good. It's probably the signature song Freebass will be remembered for and that's no bad thing.
Burgess should probably have done a whole album with them including song-writing.
2 out of 5 for the 'proper' album. 3 out of 5 for the instrumental version. Hate that guys voice with a passion !!
After all this time I have got hold of the physical release; the limited edition double disc featuring the instrumentals. Very enjoyable too. Some really good tunes on the album and to hear the instrumentals is a nice touch. Bury Me Standing is an absolute stormer. Not Too Late, The Only Ones Alone, Kill Switch, The God Machine and Plan B are very good indeed. I like Gary's voice. Haven were a good band too. I rate the project 3 out of 5.
5 years was always gonna be too much... Hated the EP, really liked the album. Maybe I'm in the minority but I reckon it weewees all over One True Passion and Monaco (their second album, I mean).
Nothing Hooky has issued to date outside of New Order can compare with the first Monaco album in terms of both quality and listenability.....

Mr Neck is right again. But the Freebass album is perfectly up to standard, far stronger than RTP or 02.
