Asked Hooky a question about the chances of releasing a 2.0 version of the Monaco albums in Bath last night, got an exciting response :

  1. it's on his (very long) list- there's lots of stuff that wasn't released
  2. Him and Pottsy have been chatting and are gonna start Monaco up again in January.

Made my night!

This is good news. Pottsy hasn't played with Hooky since...

Well, anyway. Let's be realistic, they're going to play the two albums aren't they? And then finish the gigs with Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Pottsy joined The Light a few years back.

I saw Monaco in 1997. It was much more enjoyable (for me) than The Light concert I attended in 2014.

There was characteristically vague talk of reissues V2.0 about ten years ago. Fan hypotheses: 8734086084568328763689. Real product: FA. Failures, Bisides (Ultra, Bike Thief, Shattered, Comin' Around Again, Barfly, Heaven 7), You Should Be Prancing, website freebies (Microbes is Pumpkin, I think)...

I knew that. What I'm wondering is if they now tell the other members of The Light to fuck right off ("But Dad!") or what?

Because we know how Hooky feels about bands and names don't we?

I suspected you might have been being sarcastic...

Good point about the name. Perhaps it will become Peter Hook and Monaco.

Endgame: A reunion tour billed as Peter Hook and New Order.

Sorry about the sarcasm, it's a bad habit of mine. I really must learn to control it. But my point was that maybe ten years ago this would've been something to get excited about but now it's essentially a name change and nothing more. Hooky's said on more than one occasion that he isn't keen on recording and releasing new music because The Internet so I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if there was an album released in 2017.

Mind you, the two Monaco albums were great and The Light are a great live band so put the two together and I reckon The Light performing Monaco songs should be pretty good gigs.

With Love Will Tear Us Apart to close the show, obv.

It's only a week ago but I've forgotten his exact wording, but I was in no doubt that he meant reconvening to record new music.

Pottsy and Hooky have been talking about New Songs. The Light have brought some demos to Hooky but he apparently finds it difficult to commt to new stuff because some wanker just sticks it on the Interwebs for free.

I'd be surprised if they do any new stuff cos Hooky's fully into touring, plus I never rated him as a singer-songwriter, even with Pottsy. Only Time Can Tell (see what I did there?).

More songs please Peter, and pottsy, sing again, make bernard nervous, make bernard fight back with more great songs ,then peter/pottsy play bad lieutenant songs for renewed strength, plus republic songs for angst , then make even more great songs, make bernard follow with more great songs ,and in closing - keepitcoming

I can see The Light doing Technique towards the end of next year ready for 30 years celebration but being supported by Monaco, maybe with new songs......
