Just trying to ID the menu for you... ;) I try to avoid IE as much as possible, though I have to use it at work, and I use it for my bank etc.

Get IE + Crazy Browser, seems to do mostly what you want, and it's a plugin, not another one :D

Interesting. Let's first download a 25MB application, and then a 600k plug-in, instead of downloading a 3MB applicaiton that will do the same thing and then some...

Nothing's perfect :D

I blame Microsoft for taking the market with dumping strategies, but like it or not, developer-wise, Internet Explorer is much better for us...

And blame AOL for never releasing Netscape v5.0, it took far too long to release a new version after 4.7!

As for Opera & Mozilla, I'm sure they are great, but it's evident that the "common joe" will use IE, since it's already installed with Windows.. there is no contest there!

Sucks, but unless they can fix a damn standard, so JavaScript & HTML would render and do the exact same thing, I'm very glad that IE wiped the market.. not the best technology, but it ease our job a lot!

i've noticed that it says i'm offline even when i'm online...any idea of what's wrong?

The obvious, but...

  1. Are you logged on?
  2. Do you see yourself in the list of "Users Online" in the neworderonline menu above?
  3. Did you check the option in the account options to have your online status "cloaked" ?

  4. yes...i have it set to log me in automatically

  5. no :(

  6. it's checked to let other users see me

It throws up an error now every time I try to change anything on my account details, i.e. to set my status so that people can see I am online. I am currently set to appear online, yet alongside my name it says I am offline !

Thanks, there is a little work to do.. I also got Jeff White who is unable to post, due to a logon loop..

I'll remove the "built-in" logon and put back my own, this way I'll be able to debug it easily.

As for the online/offline, I'll have to do some tests, might be the same issue.

And Tim, I'll check your profile why it doesn't work, if you can copy/paste to me the error.. in email!

I don't know what is the problem, but since it seems to have work, I guess there is no problem... :skeptic:

I think I fixed the "logon-loop" bug.

This mainly happened to people using the ENTER key when logging on instead of clicking on the Submit button.

What happened was simple, when hitting the enter key, the logo up of this page was the event fired, which redirects to the home page.. hence, the user was never logged on.

I fixed it by changing the logo to a hyperlink instead of the "ImageButton" control, anyways TLV will like it since it's now a pure hyperlink :wink:

Actually, I thought your education was graphical design... Though the hard-work you're putting into this site would indicate some (computer) engineering background.

Myself has a MSEE, and my trained mind is always trying to "improve" things - for better or wore... ;)

I found it very weird that nobody since the new version entered a profile as a new member, however, many registered.. so I went through the routine and bang, a few bugs..

They are all fixed now, so it should work like a charm for people who has no profile...

I will do some more tests, because I find it hard to believe nobody noticed the news room had no picture in it! So many bugs are not reported :D

Nic, I have had to log-on three times in the past two hours because everytime I stop using the site for a bit (these people actually expect me to do some work now and then) it logs me off. What's the time limit on this thing? Can you remove it please?!?

It's standard Geri, if you are idle for 20 mins, the site will log you off...

I can increase it, but this will increase the amount of memory the server uses, etc.. 20 mins idle is pretty fair, if you have the autologon, it shouldn't even ask you to relog!

Anything that is not reported here already.

I will make a list later in the first post of this thread of "things to do" and remove them when done.

Of course there are still things to do, they will be added sporadically, to be honest, I worked too hard on it I had to take a little break ;) So I'm working mostly week-ends now, if I have nothing to do.

If WenOrder has some free time someday, we'll have a few design changes, but so far, let's say that the fact that they are integrated with the old design (well, not everything.. I know), it's better.

And the website is a lot faster, I guess nobody can complain about that one!

Yes, I forgot about those.. but the discography also needs data entry, and I have to do the management part for that (and seriously, it's going to be long and painful).. so data won't be accurate until then.

You see, I "patched" it in v2.0, songs we listed by TRACKLISTING, not by actual "release" item, so I have to create each different release version of each discography item (Canadian release, UK release, etc) and associate them with the current entered tracklisting.

I also had the notion of "disc" which I found stupid after all, since I didn't need to actually create a "disc" entity, it was too long for nothing.

I'll start working on this tonigh.. once completed, I'll be able to do my "collection" thing, so everyone can mark an item as owned, and post REVIEWS & RATINGS of each item, it will be very easy (well.. it's my job, it's easy for me should I say) to do it.

Be patient, it'll turn out quite good...

when i post on a large thread i have no problems at all. but when i try to edit that post, after i submit, it just go to other page but the LAST. so to check out i have to go to the last page, which in very large threads (more than 10 pages) is not even showed on the thread. it just goes 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10.... but there´s not a LAST link. it happened to me twice on the FTP thread on the English Forum.

something weird just happened. i made 2 posts. one on the FTP thread and another on the GillianOutOfNewOrder thread. they simply vanished so i had to repost. i used to see them just fine but when i came back after a few hours they were not there!

Don't know this has been mentioned before - too lazy to read through the thread - but...

...when surfing the discography, the column with the scans end up being very wide since the pictures don't resize to a reasonable format. The same goes for each detailed entry. It'd be nice with a thumby instead.

Oh yeah, Opera 7 on XP.
