Avoid to talk about the webmaster's stupid mistake who lead to a loss of messages, but you can go on with the rest of the bugs.

Alright, I lost most of your problems and bugs, that's not a good thing. If you see a few back, post them back please so I'm sure I don't forget them.

Last night I did change the way the thread (topic) list navigate, so all thread names & pages are pure hyperlinks.. the paging is till the same..

If that works for most of you, I'll add more and more.. seems faster than the other way, but that might just be me :D

I fixed the smilies bug too... it was stupid, what else

I fixed other things I forgot..!!

Okay, here we go again... Hmmm... Lemesee...

  • Anyone can edit a post previously edited by its author.

  • The avatar uploading is not working.

  • The search engine is not working (Old Blue was the first one to point that out).

  • The login is not working when you press Enter, you have to click on "Submit" button.

I'm on my 2nd "normal" account now..

  1. ??? Did you check that lately? I think I made this error in the morning, but it should be fixed now.. let me know, because this is.. well, major.

  2. Will do, will do!

  3. Will check that one.

  4. Has it been tested since I was supposed to have fixed it? I know Sebastien seems to lose his cookie each time he tries to post, it asks him to log on...

I complained about the time yesterday, this is the banner I got on the home screen:

at the time it was 22.14 on the 19th here. too confusing for simpletons like me, can we see our local times please.

now it's saying

did you really lose 9 days?!? what day is today according to this thing?!?

haven't we lost a picture gallery as well? and the stats? also, when I click on 'complete list' in the smilies box I get no pictures, they seem to work ok though ?! Nic, please don't think I'm having a go here, 'cos I know you're putting in a lot of time and effort, and I certainly don't envy you :embarassed: as for the avatars, I know they're not that important but I'm dying to get rid off mine. thought you mentioned automatic resizing somewhere. this one is still too big, I found a nice wee one but can't get it uploaded ...

  1. It's fixed now. Thanks.

  2. Okay, I'll wait. It's nice to see Stroszek back anyway.

  3. The search engine is working now, but searching only titles is useless IMHO.

  4. Something is still wrong with the login. When I was not logged and tried to reply a thread I was redirected to the main page, not the reply page.

  1. when I clicked on 'add reply' I went straight to the login page, why are we getting different links here?

Yes, the problem is that it's too f***** long when you search in the messages.. it's well over the 30 seconds allowed by ASP.. I'll have to increase the database connection timeout and the asp execution timeout for this one.. and put a nice "Please Wait" message...

Funny your avatar was lost, I did arrange the avatars last night, I wonder how the hell I ended up with a few old ones.. I definitively need to take a break and organise my move instead of rushing it :D

Yes we did

Database is from the 12th...

Is the time ok though?

I had to mess with the "Today" and "Tomorrow" to make sure everything works for everyone, I hope it does.. timezone offset is killing me :D

it's now showing the right time :thumb: by the way, like the new songbrowser !

It's fixed..

Go figure why suddenly this stopped working.

Now I have my co-webmaster yelling for bugs like that

The forum font is a little bigger now, I hope it's ok for everyone!

I installed Netscape 7.1 today, I'll do some tests, so far everything seems ok with it, I'll have to find when does the 3 columns appears...

I've seen worst, you should see the site we're doing at work with Netscape...

do you think it's possible to link the songs in the "song live history" to the "song browser"?

thanx a lot!! it's really cool now

another one: I got a bit confused while uploading a new avatar (just a resize). When you do this, you read the message: "Here is a preview of the image that you have just uploaded, you can click cancel if you want to delete it, back if you want to try again." But there's no way to confirm??? I think you should introduce a new button here, and maybe if one clicks confirm, you could display a confirmation message that the avatar is uploaded now and one can continue editing the profile or browsing the site.

Well, at this point the avatar is in place, I'm just letting the options to delete it :D... doing a confirm would probably be complicated for nothing I must say...

I might be a little more clear in the text though...

Fair enough trade-off. Many, many thanks.

My list was:

  • Hyperlinks instead of Java: (mostly) done.
  • See the name of original poster when replying: done.
  • Preview button when replying: done.
  • Seeing the graphics in the complete smiley-list: done.

Needless to say, I'm more than happy. Good job Nick. :thumb:

Well, good to know there are less and less.

Which links should be hyperlinks now? I don't mind when it's a redirection to another page, but I don't want to do it if it stays in the same page (for obvious reason)..

Putting hyperlinks speeds up the system since it does one request less, but when it's on the same page, it slows down the system! But I doubt you'd have to use those anyways ;)

I'm not sure that I completely understand the question, but... these are the places where I'd like to see hyperlinks instead of the JavaScript method (in order of importance):

  1. Topic list in a specific forum: already done.
  2. Reply-button for a message (I like to keep the topic with its previous replies open while I'm writing my reply in another window)
  3. Forum list in the forum index (to have several forums open)
  4. The top hierarchy, i.e. "Dry 201 Message Pub > NewOrderOnline Technical Chat > NewOrderOnline v3.0 Technical Problems"
  5. The selections in the famous menu...

Hope this helps, TLV

  1. Done.
  2. Hum.. I guess I can do that, I'll have to check if any logic is done behind that button...
  3. Will do
  4. It's not the case yet? I thought I did..
  5. I'm not following, you mean the top menu? Be more explicit for the french guy here :D

  1. Nope, still postback.
  2. The menu that works with IE, took a while to work with Opera, and doesn't seem to work with Mozilla...

Thanks, /TLV

  1. It works on the forum page, not on the thread page.. I see :skeptic:

As for #5.. you are using 3 different browsers?!!!

Get IE + Crazy Browser, seems to do mostly what you want, and it's a plugin, not another one :D

looking at the polls i just realized how large fonts are on the items that have to be voted. they should have the same size as the posts ones, IMHO.
