on the "top posts" page my number of posts is 2,506 and on my avatar and on the "post/logon ratio" page shows 2,527. i wonder if the new forum has anything to do with it. maybe the system is not counting those posts.

I think that the "total posts" page doesn't run in real time, it only refreshes the totals every day or something like that. Mine is lower on there than it is on the "me" box on this thread, for example. I guess that the totals click over when the site is backed up every day, or something like that.
yeah, i was thinking on something like that too. the weird thing is that the other statistics seems to be in real time. "total posts" seems the only one having this problem...

Yes I noticed that. Total logons seems to go up every 5 mins with me !! Total posts seems to be permanently 12 posts behind the total alongside the thread.
That's because the post total doesn't count deleted posts.. I would need to update this...
Yes it's real time, but it's not actually counting posts, it's a counter.. otherwise the system would be slow.
Once in a while I need to update the stats, then people yell because they drop a few posts :D
I don't think those "deleted" posts should be discounted, they were submitted in good faith and were only taken off because the jerk threw his toys out the pram. One of them was actually rather funny as well, and I don't think should have ever been deleted, let alone deducted from the posts count !

It doesn't seem to be the deleted posts.. I just did the update, it didn't change the count much.
Weird stuff...
Oh I see.. the "Total Posts" is your total of messages posted, but the stats shows all messages linked to a thread.
Apparently, we have orphan messages... from deleted threads!
