To be honest, it's up to you. I had donations from 5$ to 100$...
I feel in the future (not yet), we might be able to auto-finance ourselves with the shop and the small ads here and there.. but contributions are always welcomed.

The problem is, the site had a lot more activity than usual due to the new album and touring, but it started to slow down, so I'm not even sure our dedicated server would be needed then.
But since there is another album on the way, I'll be ready this time.
I have to inquire about a memory upgrade on our current server, that's mostly the problem, it swaps a lot due to too less memory (that's Windows of course!)

Ouch... I wonder if that RAM is mine after that.. damn it, it doesn't even cost 100$ these days.
That is, however, what would be needed to help this server right now... memory boost. (IMHO, I could be wrong, but I've never seen a machine using more memory than it has not benificiate from a memory boost)
You should enact a $2/month membership fee for forums. Tiny fee that most would be willing to pay. $2 would quickly add up.

But we use "euro" in "europe" (BUT not in England, of course 
)… so, this could be more of a problem than a solution : banks are not really in charity business and it's even cost a lot of money to change a cheque in europe itself…
If you need it to pay directly "on line", you must realised that it's not so easy to have a credit card in every country : I know what I'm talking about, I don't have the right "profile" myself. 
(well, I am a serious girl !!! Never done anything wrong ! what are you thinking about ? It's just my job that is not "enough" serious to my bank, that's all !!! )

BTW, I am talking with the hosting company, we might have to reinstall the NOOL server.. basically it shouldn't be too long to do, they will put a new hard drive, deploy a new image and I must create everything from scratch, just since everything will be on another disk, I just hope to copy the files after.
Might be the only way to fix this buggy installation which is unable to upgrade for some reason...
I'll let everybody know.. right now the debate is to know if they will charge me or not.. I pay a pretty small fee for a dedicated server, but the catch is that the support isn't free ;) so I have to ask.

I think this would put people off;
more adverts (but no bloody pop ups) and increasing the size of the store operation would be the way to go in my opinion...
The ads we have currently are doing just fine.
The shop will help a lot, it's the first help from the band itself, so that's a good start.. my business trip to Chicago managed to get us that deal

Had another idea... don't think you should charge for membership, but you could make a monthly charge for setting up and running a blog- if people want to post and be guaranteed centre of attention maybe they should pay for it?
No, I don't want to charge for membership.. people having blogs have all contributed at one point or another.. but we are expecting help from the band too very soon, so not only the site will be free, but it should get on a better machine I hope...

I'm going to have to agree with Nicos...this site has always been free...
if you want to help, you are more than welcome to...but I'm sure there are some who just can't afford to send Nicos money....

I have just ordered the memory upgrade, so thanks for those who helped.
This should make the site running more smoothly, I hope so... as the site was always using more memory than available (so, swapping on the hard drive)
It should be there in the next couple of days.
