Perhaps this can be fixed too?,

Deffo! Right pain in the arse, that.

I'd also like the googleability of a poster removed, for the reasons Tim mentioned....like potential stuffy employers who might be influenced by a person simply arsing about in their own time online, when it's not their business. However that can be done,it should be IMO.

How long's the timeout?! It's, like, 20mins or summat, isn't it?!

Speaking of time out...

We should have an auto logout for those idle, let's say 1 hour. As you know, you will keep on appearing on "Who's Online" when you don't logout. Moreover, your login count keeps on increasing.

If you're looking to offload something how about site members who haven't logged on for >2years? UK alone has more than 1700 members, how many of them are active? Happy birthday list is continually filled with people we've never heard of.

BTW Nic, the United Kingdom is not in Africa

 I only have one finger...this one :finger: This is gunna sound really whiney, but I'm at home with 3 demanding brats,on my own, when I'm not down the steelworks, and I'm often pulled away to see to their endless demands,or just to listen to them,or help them with homework or whatever arises..and if I'm in mid-post it goes for a burton..I do tend to keep my post short as a result, even when I fancy a right waffle of Cambo proportions..Hi Steve! :hi:

Get rid of the post count.

Anything over a year old to be archived. (made available on request)

Blogs to be seperated into a New Order and Non New Order section.

I like the idea of being able to add the gigs you've done to yer profile. The only reason I have that avatar is so I can remember which one's I've done without looking them up.

Get rid of the International forums that havnae been touched in ages.

Merge the football forum back with BCD.

Could they then appear against the said gig in the live section so you know who else was there?

I'll go along with getting rid of 'friends' and 'blogs' and anything older than, say, 6 months on BCD. And the search facility to be working properly again.

Can we please have an automatic notification sent to our email address when a PM is received? It's already being done for threads you subscribe to, so it shouldn't be that difficult. I don't always log on here, but I do check my mail every day.

Got to agree with whoever said about the googleability of the site,we all post stuff that is rather risque and i'd rather not my father in law reading about my night on the old columbian,if yer know what i mean.

Oh aye,and ban all annoying Brazilians! :evil4:

Delete really old threads. Keep PM's (essential for the weeding forum) Probably get rid of 'friends' (never liked that show anyway)

Make it so if you are not logged in and click on 'reply' once you have then logged in it takes you straight back to the replying to a thread box instead of then having to hit the back button twice and click on 'reply' again.

Get rid of PM's- Do communication through forums.

Get rid of chatrooms- The whole site is a chatroom.

Get rid of the blogs- They don't seem to sit well, unless they are generating additional traffic and ad revenue.

>>>Re; Old posts. Allow individuals the ability to delete their own posts en masse; at the moment you have to do it one by one which is pretty painful. People should be allowed to delete their own stuff and their is probably a legal grounds to this as well with the privacy laws around.>>>I don't support the auto delete of the archives. Like other people have said they are useful and interesting from a historical and research point of view.

The pm's and the chatroom allow for some privacy, which you actually mention later when you are talking about being able to delete posts.

If you don't like the chatroom don't go in, better have it than have the boards filled up with chit chat, there is more than enough of that on bcd as it is.

The PM's were introduced as away to cut down on members leaving messages for just one or two peoples attention on the boards, as not everyone wants to share their email address and the PM's mean you don't have to.

Never NEVER get rid of the chatroom. It prevents many of us who would otherwise post several ridiculous messages on BCD cluttering up the boards. The Chatroom IS used. Mainly by around 10 people, on and off, but there's nothing to stop others joining in. One of the features of NOOL that I enjoy most :thumb:

Good points... Actually after I posted this I wondered to myself how two individuals would manage to communicate privately if PM's and the chatrooms were nuked.

Definitely keep one or the other then... PM's would be my choice.

If we each had the option to kick out everyone we didn't get along with there'd be absolutely no one left here after the cull! :eek3:

"When I am King......"

so said Thomas Yorke one fine evening.

But then he also said

"in my opinion, which is of no consequence at all".

An ignore option works wonders, particularly if you can ignore whole continents!

ALSO, can you reformat the forums to allow replying to individual comments? It's really a pain to be reading through a post and have huge chunks of previous comments quoted just so two or three people can follow a conversation. LiveJournal and forums like The Huffington Post do it:

-Original comment -----sub-comment -----sub-comment ----------sub-comment-comment ----------sub-comment-comment -----sub-comment

...and so on.

 This is the thing that really bugs me. Quote one comment people!
