For me it's obvious the 1995 version is the best, it's a fantastic song (great guitar, keyboard, bass...) and I'd have loved to see it on Republic, it would have made it an even better album and could have been a great single even, maybe in place of Ruined In A Day...

bullsh!t. most here prefer the Original. all the old geezers support it tooth and nail. it's a great instrumental but i love all 3 versions.

i think the vocals in Lets Go are a forgotton gem in Barneys lyric writing, think about an ex and scream out the chorus at the top of your lungs and you will see what i mean ;)

But of course the instrumental is fabulous, that guitar... ooooh gives me shivers :D :D

Let's Go is a great instrumental, and the extra harmonious bit of guitar on the wordless version is GREAT (though the drums sounds a bit canned)! Anyway, I like the vocal versions also...decent lyrics.

I like the production on the 1995 US Best of version but this song was always best as a live instrumental.

Actually, if they could use any of the song, they could have used it all. If you listen closely, the last third (@ appx 2:11) of the instrumental on Salvation contains a slight guitar fuck-up. My suspicion is that Bernard insisted on the fade out. The last third is basically treading water. Very similar to Dreams Never End in so far as they both are basically one good guitar bit by Bernard and Peter stretched out to 3 and a half minutes.

The version of the Best of. The lyrics are pretty good.

They should`ve released an album around late 87,with the Salvation stuff & the true faith/1963 single. It would probably be one of their best. (they spent enough time in the studio around then,a lost album in the vaults anyone?)

The instrumental on Salvation defo. I agree with Biznotic about the fade out on Retro, criminal. Though the USA Best Of version was better than the original demo. Bring it back to the set I say.

quick question tim...correct me if im wrong but did they use lets go in the early part of the set. i think the times i have heard it live it may have even been an opener...and a good one at that

I really like the demo for some reason, the lyrics are much better than the 1995 one, I also like Hooky's "Waiting for so long" harmonies.

The live version is kick ass too!

Actually folks, the demo with lyrics IS the original. It was in the frame for inclusion on Low-Life but was dropped as it didn't fit with the rest of the album. Later redone as an instrumental for Salvation as the Barnster didn't rate the lyric and later still cacked-up totally as bait for the American Best Of.

Just for the record, the demo with vocals is my fav. A lost classic and no mistake! Over and out.

i used to prefer the instrumental, but now i've switched to the second vocal version. not sure why, really. just had an epiphany one day while listening to it.

having said that, they're both cracking tunes.

Usually either the mid-set number or an opener, it was thrown in as an encore once or twice as well. Absolute classic live song, my personal favourite, and a pity they ruined it on record (Salvation soundtrack was as near as they ever got to recording it properly). It was to have been on Low Life, then they got worried about having two instrumentals on there so added some lyrics which screwed it up. The fact they never played it live with lyrics says it all really, the song was meant to be an instrumental.

There aint that much in it really.
