Thought I would throw this in with the new album!

No way that I Told You So deserves to be in a "worst of" list

Not Subculture or Times Change! They're among my favourites! Agreed on the others. Although Murders not too bad

Sub-culture 12" & Shellshock are the two worst songs they have done. I quite like Jetstream

What? No Shellshock?

Why is Murder on here?

The list isn't completed without World and Touched by the Hand of God.

Rocking Carol or Ode to Joy (one or both)

J-e-t,Then.. blue monday

i dont understand how blue monday list. Blue Monday pretty much created modern elctronic dance musisc. It also put new order on the map.

I'd put it the other way round... B-L-U-E first then J-E-T (OK... "World in Motion" in the middle of them)

Of that list, gotta be Jay Eee Tee.

Let's not forget how bad State Of The Nation is.

We All Stand (PCL version)

No amount of drugs the band consumed could have saved that disaster (redeemed by live versions though)

Any song with John Barnes "rapping" has got to be bottom of the list.

jetstream makes me sick for some reason:dead:

i love love love the subculture 12". not for the remix, but the dub. dub vulture or dub culture is amazing. it gets so strange. almost glitchy. i think it is one of their more interesting remixes. actually, that 12" goes in just as often as anything else by new order.

I really love WIM, Sub-Culture 12" and I Told You So. I don't really understand why the latter is on the list anyway, but that's beside the point. This won't be a popular choice, but I really, really dislike Thieves Like Us. I find it incredibly obnoxious. But I also really dislike State of the Nation and much of REPUBLIC.

Oh yeah, it's so excruitiating. I cringe every time I hear it and am embarrassed when people who don't know/like new order hear it at my house and they're like "you like this?!"

No, no, I don't.

No, no, I don't.

My least favourite: I also think it's a bit of a 'State' (bwah!ha!ha!).

State of the Nation is one my absolute favorites. As for worst NO song i'm not sure but I really loathe Your Silent Face.

Jetstream (on and off)

hahaha! those are some of the worst songs ive ever heard. but when considering the worst one, i can't really count b-sides, unreleased, remakes, filler songs etc. so i would have to say fine time. i cant believe that was the first single off technique. and whenever i see the video on vh1 classic it just shoves the song in my face (not to mention the video makes me dislike it even more). i cant ignore it like i can ignore more obscure tracks. btw ive never heard vietnam maybe someone could give it to me :(

you guys seem to complain about the experimental side of New Order... makes you wonder what you like about New Order. New Order are great when they have a sense of humor and fun.

the second half of Get Ready is pretty embarrassing. the second half of Republic is fatally uninteresting.

Jetstream definetely gets my vote. Should have been a b - side at best.

ive always said that i like new order because their songs are so varied when it comes to styles. so i believe that everyone likes at least one of their songs. and lets not forget that blue monday was purely an experiment in technology. im not really sure why no one likes state of the nation, i think its so sensual, same with i told you so.

In my opinion, there's no really bad NEWorder song (as originals), and besides i love 'Subculture' on 'Low Life', but if there has to be 1 that, even tough after all these years, i barely can't listen to, its the 12" of Sub. But, no, sorry folks, 'Jestream' is a good popsy tune, and isn't it time to listen to NEWorder without prejudice ?
If only.

does no one else hate Confusion???

I remember buying the 12" when it first came out. Tried to like it but...

It's the only NO song I really cannot listen to

I'm quite happy to announce that in a pretty big NO collection, I don't have a single version of World In Motion. It's an embarrassing track in every possible sense, musically, lyrically and thematically. Does anyone else feel confused/angry/frustrated that among all the legendary singles NO released, THAT gets to number one? :banghead:

Worst song for me is WIM,they should of thrown that one in the Shaun of the Dead film instead of BM..

Their worst songs must be Brutal. Slow and boring.

SOTN is a classic. Great lyrics, great guitar riff and the bassline was even later used for Mr Disco.

Part of me automatically thinks of We All Stand as a contender for NO's worst song, but part of me really thinks that it's somehow a really worthwhile song. I really can't decide. But I suppose it's worth noting that I at least think it's worthy of consideration.

Chemical!!

Why has only one person mentioned "Working Overtime" so far? It's my least favourite by a long shot! It's like NO trying to do the Beatles or something.

I know it gets flak, but I love "World in Motion"! It's cheese, but such happy, sunny cheese.

"World in Motion" closely followed by "Werido", with "Confusion" in third and final place.

I would not put most of these songs on any worst of list, but Murder is an excellent candidate!

No way Jestream and I told you so are bad songs, people! World in motion is sort of fun, too, for a football song.

The one I like the least is Chemical, lacks any sort of charisma. Times Change is much better than Chemical.

I agree that World in Motion is fun. You can't take everything so seriously! Jetstream has laughably bad lyrics but I think the tune is rather catchy, and I definitely don't understand all the Blue Monday bashing. A very important song whether you like it or not. All in all, there are remarkably few NO songs I don't like, though. Not much rubbish at all in their collected works! Rather like "who is the ugliest supermodel?"

Exactly. And Blue Monday is not only important, it's an kickass song on its own.

Actually, I hadn't even noticed the "an". :)

Blue Monday is the song that got me hooked on NO - I still love it. As I do, World in Motion, the best football song I've heard and a fun song.

Not real keen on State of the Nation.

Yeah, WFTSC is the worst NO song ever. They should never have released it or put it on the album. Infact they should never have called the album after it's worst song.

Gotta be Do The Ostrich. What the fuck was that all about? No wonder the first 2 mins is Sumner saying "were gonna fucking regret this".

Which album is that on? I looked on play.com and n one of NO's albums had Do The Ostrich on it.

Point on. And besides, I've just always hated that whole "WFTSC sound", i.e. Krafty and Run. ARGH! What's with the simplistic tunes?

I know I'm probably gonna get flamed for that remark, but hey......

They've performed it live loads of time... I have it on the 1987 Ostrich-A-Go-Go bootleg. Not sure where else it can be found.

HAYSTACK!!!

I just heard recently. The first time I heard it, I said to myself, "WTF is this song?" Anyway, I gave myself the benefit of the doubt, for I might like it later. After hearing it a couple of times again, I have to say, it's really a BAD track!

Indeed!

Well, 'Do The Ostrich' was a live piss about, so surely can be forgiven...

WIFM? There's a reason why most of us add the 'F' - Keith F**king Allen... Would be okay if it was an instrumental.

As for 'Piss Stream' I think most people here are in agreement.

What I don't understand is the wide dislike for 'State Of The Nation'. The first national airing of the track was on 'The Tube' before the release of 'Brotherhood'. For many of us 'oldies' at the time it was exciting enough that New Order had come up with something new and that we could look forward to some new material and as such, I'll always appreciate the track, especially remembering Barney in a yellow 'Pringle' sweater and a bright pink luminous guitar strap.

Each to their own though, and those are just my own thoughts on the topic. Always good to know that so many years on, New Order can still encourage lively debate among us LOL
