1963 is probably my favourite NO song to sing along to, a really beautiful song. Who knows what it's about though - maybe I should start a new thread asking for any ideas :banghead:

Not that Procession is a bad one mind...

Prefer Procession to 1963 these days so went for that

Procession. Another close one.

Oh now you've gone and done it....two of my all time favorites...thinking of the majestic Taras version of Procession, but 1963 is consistently grand (less you talk of the 1995 version, mind).

1963 wins (today!)

More toughies, so it comes down to details such as production. And Hannett did a better job in the case of these two.

Procession.

1963 is a good song, but I just don't love it. I don't know why.

I've just tipped the balance in Procession's favour: 7-6

Processions just nudging ahead 11-9 with my vote.

First heard 1963 and thought, "Where's Hooky?" but thankfully he appeared more in later versions.

Another tough choice.

Soooo difficult this one... 1963 has grown on me a lot since I first heard it and it is a great POP song, but I love all the stuff from 81/82 so much it really had to be Procession...

Personally I think 1963 is shite.

Procession deffo.

I've seen a lot of discussion on this site about 1963 before, but not procession. That led me to believe that is was a bit under-rated, but my faith is being restored currently. Great live at the early gigs as well.

Procession.

It's like Joy Division with Sumner singing. You could easy imagine IC singing on this one.

Toughie indeed. While 1963 hits you hard with the lyrics Procession makes me jump up and down. Procession for me.

Tough love and tough draw for Procession. I have to go with Nineteen hundred sixty three.

Procession, still in my top 5 after all these years. Classic stuff.

you know the story about king solomon asking the two arguing women to divide the baby in half?

this is kind of like that. but i went with 1963.

Had better memories of Procession, loved it in the old days :baby: listened to it some days ago and it sounds a bit outdated :o and, err a bit out of tune

Procession. I fuckin' love 1963, but I'm a big fan of their darker material.

Amen, sister. Amen.

but i went with 1963.

Amen, slight return. Not that i think it has much chance of winning...

Jaysus, but these are tough decisions. A reminder, if needed, that few bands have a back catalogie to compare with New Order's...

Agree with that. Alright video, but at the end of the day I see it as a novelty track.

Procession IS New Order to me.

Procession !

An old good song I'd like to hear live in the next tour, like they did for EGG in France last summer.

Well I keep getting Error when I try to vote, but when I do it's gotta be Procession - one of the best songs from the early years and yeah, I'd love to see it resurrected as well.

1963 would have won against a lot of other tracks though!

This is tough. Which 1963 are we talking about? I think that's gonna win. Crap. Yeah. 1963.

I voted for "1963". It makes me cry every time I listen to it, but I love that song. It's one of my favourites, and I love the lyrics, too.

I love 1963. The best part is the "I just want to feel free" outro and the bass line that plays over it.

However I can listen to Procession and enjoy it on more listens, so I chose that.

Procession for me - i always liked the tone of the bass on that.

Procession. Can't remember the last time I bothered to listen to 1963.

Blah. Two very excellent songs. However, I find that 1963 induces more singalongs than Procession. Even more odd, Barney sings which much more emotion than usual in this one. Perhaps wearing a blonde wig and white dress is another thing he does behind closed doors.

1963 is arguably the best B-side in the NO 'ography. Never cared for Procession. I will side with 1963 here, even though to me it is overplayed.

No Contest - 1963 must win this.

It's a problem, you know.

Pro - cession.

Hello, Hello. Hello, Hello.

Procession for me, love the intro, and the opening line is nearly always at the front of my mind. Honestly, I never got overly excited by 1963.

Last autumn when I studied to play Procession I finally realised how great song it is.
