Let's Go whether in instrumental form or the slightly more polished '95 version knocks the socks off Slow Jam anyday. Slow Jam is perhaps the most uninspired song they've ever written, from the ropey lyrics to the dull and loud grind of the guitars.
Let's Go is in another league by comparison. I love the Instrumental because it's a really tight performance by the band with no single element overshadowing everything; the guitar, bass, keyboards and drums are a perfect blend. Until Barney's guitar cuts out that is :D The '95 version is good for the spiteful lyrics which could've been from Technique "You did to me what I did to you"; classic Barney! ![]()
Let's Go is a favourite of mine. I wish we got quality versions of the 1985 vocal demo and the instrumental, cos the 95 edit has the bass almost completely taken out. Great song, the performance on the Leuven 85 dvd is triffic.
Anybody surprised I voted for Slow Jam?
Energy and party song done by New Order, maybe it has poor lyrics, but I just enjoy that track...
has to be Let's Go. even though I don't particularly like either one of the vocal versions, they're still better than Slow Jam.
Hadn't heard Let's Go (any version) until fairly recently, so it's a bit fresher for me... Slow Jam isn't bad, but like 60MPH and few other tracks from GR, it is a bit generic and not especially inspiring... Let's Go sounds more like 'classic' NO, without bering classic, so it gets my vote...

Well that's cleared up a 23 year old mystery for me. I had no idea what Let's Go was so I looked it up on the net.
It turn's out I have heard it before. They played Let's Go live in Cork in 1983. I remember hearing a it on the bootleg and having no clue as to what song it was (it was a new song then so the bootleggers had no name for it)
I finally found out what it was today.
(I voted for it).
Slow Jam, You don't mean that much to me.
I can't get enough of this.
Lets Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
La la, la la la la, la la la la, la la la la la.

Logan...I don't understand why you would pick it...but hey...you can pick Slow Jam all you want...
for fuck's sake...this place would be boring as hell if we all thought the same about EVERYTHING!
Slow Jam. I honestly can't understand the hate for this around here. Absolute classic in my book - shuffling beat quite different from anything else they've done, great rhythm guitar and I love the way the bass is steering the melody around until the last line of the verse when he cuts loose and goes higher. There's a real tension and release thing going on with the verse and anthemic chorus, which works well. And I like the lyrics, so there.
I DON'T WANT THE WORLD TO CHANGE!
slow jam on the peel seesions cd is so much better than the get ready version.... but still can't decide....

Well. I really like the version on In Session. It just sounded good, and sounded like the band really enjoyed playing it, adding life to the song. Let's Go was a song that I initially liked due to the opening guitar on the US (best of) CD, but then was turned off by the rest. I don't know. It just does Nothing For Me.
