The NO Cup - First Round PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE vs REGRET

Player in the League is class. Would have made Get Ready a better album (the same can be said for a few other tracks). But Regret is perfect pop and for me what New Order are about. Every element about it is top drawer, so I went for it.

Regret has a wonderful niche inside my heart as one of the best songs I think NO has written together. That should have made it win my vote. I've had a decade and some years to pick it apart, though. These days it's not giving me the same effect as when I played it so long ago. Still a favorite, but Player in the League wins my vote as one of the best songs latter day NO has put out, which makes it win over Republic-era NO, for me. I'd put it down to the grit PitL manages to have when compared to the beautiful pop present of Regret.

Regret is everything great about New Order all put into one song but i actually get more from Player these days.Player for me

never thought I'd be voting for Regret, but I did. Player in the League was quite rightly, imho, left off Get Ready.

Never tire of Regret, the most perfect pop song they've done...

I've always found Regret to be a little overestimated, but it's still better than Player.

Getting sick of Regret being played at every gig but imho better than Player for this poll.

Tough draw for PITL. Essentially a bye for Regret.

Regretfully for me as I really like PITL, I HAD to vote for 'Regret' Classic NO.

Player. Just because. I dunno, I like Regret, especially the New Order Mix, but Player is WOO.

This time no vote for an outsider, though PITL is a quite nice song. But Regret kicks ass...

Player In The League is excellent... But Regret remind me so many things back in 1993. So that's Regret.
