Is the remix the Kiss of Death? And are we Thieves, or are we popular amongst Thieves?

Tuff enuff. Sub-Culture live is the equivalent of any version of Thieves, but the studio versions haven't been done to my complete satisfaction. Even though I do like the Robie re-recording, a bit.

just can't stand thieves like us.

Sub-culture is certainly more an ear-catcher than TLU, but in the end the latter wins.

This match is so tough. I voted for Sub-Culture because I sing it more often during my college life. However, I also sing or hum TLU. I love these songs the same!

These crazy words of mine So wrong they could be right. :ignore:

I voted TLU but I must confess that I prefer the instrumental version. Didn't check if it was in the competetion. Too late... I gave my vote I know...

Neither are favourites but it is bloody hard to seperate them!

Thieves... Subculture... Thieves... got to be Subculture

Subbies has a class bass melody, too bad Hooky didn't bother to play it until the very end of the song.

Love TLU, so easy enough this one...

This one was quite tough. I like them both very much, but after much deliberation Thieves got the vote. Good to see this being a close fight! One case where I don't mind the outcome.

Thieves Like Us - Mellow New Order at it's best.

One of these is a great song, only slightly marred by the shoddy vocal recording.

The other is a half-decent idea that was played live to death, and never quite got right on record. The remix was sacrilege.

Thieves like us.

I particularly enjoy how in early tv appearances the versions were always different. So thats what I'm going with.

I'm surprised I've gone against subculture but such is life.

Thieves like Us.

New Order's finest moment. This song is perfect. The intro alone contains enough great riffs for about 6 songs.

Thieves Like Us - Mellow New Order at it's best.

I'll go ahead and agree with that.

TLU is just classic! Always one of my fave tracks on substance.

Sub-culture, great tune, great lyrics, ahhh, those were the times

This is a toughie!

Sub-culture has all that fucking remix baggage but I remember the live versions with the bass growling like only a very bad tempered Hooky could make it growl!

Thieves Like Us I love very much, but I always thought it went on ever so slightly too long...

room w/out a view unveils the truth so soon. class. dies so quickly, grows so slowly .

Got to be thieves, the first 2 minutes is absoutely sublime. I'd love to have heard the really long early live versions. In fact I'd love to have heard this live full stop!

Subculture...hmm well I always think that the chorus starts off well, but the "...a little bit" line always makes me cringe.

I agree with Jiphy

The intrumental version of TLU was one of my first discovered New Order songs.
