China here too.

I just had 'Crispy Aromatic Tibetan Llama' earlier, with all the trimmings.

They might execute 22 people a week, but hell, give me MSG anytime. I love it.

the recent events over the olympic torch have only just scratched the surface on the general feeling of unease with how the Chinese Govnt treat it's people. What is more worrying though is the failure of any western democratic govnts to stand up to the massive abuses of human rights because 'free' trade may be affected.

Prefer in what?

Shitting on human rights? Torture? Genocide? Putting away political critics?

Both countries are good in all that. I can't see a difference.

US, it wins on Freedom of speech, and though it has transgressed on human rights, China's records is a lot worse. Chinese workers have no trade unions and less rights than in the US. Both are world-class bullies, but I much prefer US to China.
