I'd have to vote Good. It would still have great lyrics and synth, but instead of the layered drum patterns and bass sequencer, it would most likely use a more primitive (yet amazing) drumming style and more Hooky. Would be interesting to see, but most likely would've flopped after the expectations following the dance remix of BLT.

good points. i think the lush feel (probably the result of Hague's input) of the sound of True Faith is a big part of why the song is so amazing. i still voted for excellent, though. :)
Don't know wich one to vote for (duh!). I mean, the song is supposedly produced by Stephen Hague AND NewOrder (and written by NewOrder AND Stephen Hague), so who knows who's the real responsable for it or whose ideas were used in the final mix?
Who is stephen hague? new order don't need help with their own songs, look at Get Ready for example.

Virtually all of Get Ready was produced & mixed by Steve Osborne, and as there are two different versions of the album floating around, I'd suggest that New Order probably do need a little help when it comes to finishing tracks and polishing off the mixes. I think Stephen Hague had a bit more of an input into True Faith, 1963 and Republic, due to his sharing the authoring credits, and I think the band kind of leave him to tweak sounds and finish off the songs. How much input Steve Osborne had, I don't know, but it would probably have been a little bit more based on leaving the band to it, then adding extra effects and synths towards the end - at a guess.

probably it wouldn´t have had the mainstream magic. but surely it would be equal great if not better.
To me it would have sounded incredible anyway but probably wouldn't have been a mainstream hit, I know plenty of (ignorant) people that like (Stephen Hague's) True Faith but couldn't be bothered with any of NO's other excellent stuff. Their production would probably have had a rougher feel to it like the PCL production.
I think Hague helped make "TF" radio-friendly and did do a good deed. Now with Republic, he's on his own! 
It would still sound good. New Orders lyrics make either song great, and you know Hauge didn't got a finger in every New Order track - and New Order made good music anyway. But it might had sound less-"80" And I think it wouldn't make so many people to New Order fan like the Hauge version did. :p
You know that's a gppd question but really I think that it wouldv'e found it's own way into the mainstream reguardless of that twat Steven Hague.
Me thinks it would be better...and I'd be very interested in hearing that product.

Hang on,if you wanna here the Hague-less mix of True Faith we`ve all got it. True Faith-94 (Oakenfold re-produced it), Not anywhere near as good. Stick with the original-i wish New Order would when they gig it.

Are you refering to the plain True Faith 94, or the Perfecto mixes? Cuz the 94 version is nearly identical except more clean production, and the Perfecto mixes should rot in hell for ruining the newer live versions.
