Weekly Song Review: The Peter Saville Show Soundtrack

Haven't bothered to listen to it past the first ten minutes. About 50% for what I have listened to.

Best bit--A NO song Worst bit--long and formless I love to listen to it as I fall asleep. Just like Carnage Visors by The Cure or Eno's Music for Airports (a great way to clear out a party if Skinny Puppy's VivisectIV did not make the nut) The last bit of NO reagalia I purchased was the 316 dvd

best bit: the fact that it's ifferent from anything they've done in the last 20 years and especially since "the reunion". It's not a verse/chorus structured song, but rather sort of an experiment in sound (though obviously it's not a radical statement). I made a CD of video 586, the full Elegia and Soundtrack which is a pretty good trifecta for a lazy sunday morning spent with some coffee and the crossword puzzle worst bit: the price to get one here in the US love/hate: well, it really doesn't inspire either of those emotions %age: 60% Related product: Coincidentally enough, I bought the Designed by Peter Saville book today, and I can't believe it's not got my two favorite sleeves (True Faith remix and Touched by the Hand of God).

that was Vietnam. this is the one they edited during the Peter Saville exposition and it´s 30 minutes long ;)

In my humble opinion...

1. The best bit: It's great background music, relaxing and great for studying
2. The worst bit: It's background music, and it is rather long
3. Why you love/hate it: I liked it because I thought it added a nice atmosphere to the exhibit

5. What is the last New Order related item you bought? The Peter Saville Show Soundtrack. ;)

1. The best bit: That it's 30 minutes of new New Order, and that you can pick up new things every time you listen to the track. Exquisite design, too.
2. The worst bit: The fact that it's so rare. I'm lucky to have a copy.
3. Why you love/hate it: Since I live in the States, I can't comment on how it worked with the exhibit, but it's really a wonderful, emotive piece.

5. What is the last New Order related item you bought? RIAD single, BM 88 promo, and a few other things.

The worst bit is the beginning where the ghost of Mike Oldfield looms.

The best bit is where Hooky's bass comes in and saves the day.

I really think it IS pushing it a bit to review this as a New Order track, let alone song, it's a 30 minute, eh, soundtrack, to an exhibition. In 'Soundtrack to an exhibition' terms 100%, as a New Order Track I dunno - I think they could probably get 2 or 3 out of it - ; as a song - it isn't

Best thing is that it sounds really nice on a Sunday morning, like right about now whilst on the computer.

Worst thing is that it does go on a bit too long, though I'm not gonna complain too much, I'd rather hear something like this from NO, or The Church.

Love it cause it's NO, though I don't play it every day.

Last NO purchase would be the Academy/Substance tapes lovingly put on DVD for those of us Stateside.

I do agree! They should play it in their concert as their first track. Then the Full Version of Elegia. Then everyone is asleep. After that, they should play Video 586 to wake up some people. Then two more 10 minute songs Thieves Like Us and The Perfect Kiss. Then the show is over!
