  1. good synth and bass(i find myself saying good bass for all of these reviews)

  2. i thought some of the synth sounds at the end could be mixed louder instead of hidden in the back. i also thought it could have been a little faster.

  3. i like the "i keep hanging on part" and i think the song flows really nicely, it was a good break inbetween all the guitary tracks.

  1. the bass and guitars, barney's delivery of the lyrics, just the mellow feel of it. 2)maybe the lyrics...content wise. i really don't wanna hear about him fictionally (or not) lusting after a younger girl. 3)see above. 4)90%

1 Lyrics 2 could do with being sped up a bit;) 3 It's good, but it's not great - so I neither Love or Hate it 4 85%

  1. Love the bass and guitar

  2. A little too smooth production-wise, plus the lyric "you're like a solar flare in the rising sun".

  3. Also do not really love or hate the song.

  4. Rating 6 out of 10

  1. Best part: The intro synth stuff. They should make an intro mix to this like they did to Crystal.

  2. Worst part: Compared to the rest of the album, it's kind of weak...

  3. Why I like it: Refer to 1.

  4. Over all rating: 76%

  1. Best bit - the Crystal connection with the keyboard part
  2. Worst bit - you know Slow jam is in 10 mins time
  3. Like/dislike - sex/no sex

Best part - It's the only song on Get Ready that doesn't have bad lyrics and too much guitar Worst part - Nothing wrong with this track Why? - It's better than 99% of Republic and a sound I would like to hear more of from NewOrder rating - 100%

1.Rich relaxed feel, sets up Primitive Notion nicely. 2> Does drift a bit mid song 3. Again neither really 4. 85%

  1. best bit, after the interlude where Barney sings/whispers "you've gotta vicious streak, for someone so young" - owch.. i can relate that 2 a few ex girlfriends i can tell ya!

  2. worst bit, the instrumental bit in the middles goes on a bit...

  3. why you love/hate it, its typical "twist that knife in" bitter sweet NewOrder

  4. percentage rating). 80% - its one on Grrready i dont skip!

  1. The synth parts are actually enjoyable, not dated like Someone Like You in places

  2. it doesn't quite fit well btw TMW and Primitive Notion

  3. It's a nice bitter dose packaged in a sweet sound

Sorry Major - I don't really like this track, nothing whatsoever to say about it. :( (that's me disqualified then!)

  1. The bass is definately the best part of the song
  2. Maybe it is just me but between the times he says "I keep hanging on" there is this ringing sound that makes me think my car door is open, a bit annoying.
  3. I think it just flows well together
  4. I give this track a 75%

Lost the plot a bit while writing this original rating etc. I stand by all four answers though, and wish to draw particular attention to answer 2.

Worst part of waking up in the morning: remembering that Slow Jam exists.

I'd just like to say to everyone

I FUCKIN LOVE SLOW JAM (IT BEATS ARITHMETIC)

  1. Best Bit: An an analog synth wonk, I absolutely love the snare sound. It takes me back to the days of slaving over a hot Mattel Synsonics drum pad.

  2. Worst Bit: Barney's adventures in microtuning on the line, "My vision is CLEEEE-UH-EEEAR..." Ouch.

  3. I forget what number three is. I like what Tabsy said here. I like the way the band lays back on the bridge rather than playing up. I like the "vicious streak" line.

I agree with the 95% part. My current view is it's number 2 on GR.

Maybe it beats arithmetic, but it doesn't beat anything else. Except We All Stand.

  1. I like the way the lyrics contrast with the smooth production and melody. And the fact that there are no remixes...
  2. It is not spectacular
  3. See above.
  4. 75% (it beats Slow Jam :D

It's just NOT a New Order song in my opinion. It doesn't come across like a New Order song. It's so fucking anonymous it could have been done by frigging Paddy MacAlloonee's Prefab Sprout or something...

We All Stand is brilliant on Pumped Full Of Drugs, I will fight to the bitter end with this one. Feel free to slag off the album version, but its better than Slow Jam.

Ok Vicious Streak. Best thing? Very good melody, sharp beats good lyrics moving feel to it. Worst thing? None really, apart from the fact i dont beleive its the greatest song of all time. Why? I like this track a lot number 2 or 3 on Get Ready, well produced, not too shiny as some have said (see Republic for too shiny). Overall: 80%

  1. Best bit: Nice chilled feel to it, good bass
  2. Worst bit: Hasn't really got one
  3. Why I love it: Change of pace after Crystal and 60MPH; sets things up nicely for Primitive Notion

  1. the vocals are nice and soothing, but i wanted Gillian to co-vocalize on it (too bad she doesn't on this album). the bridge is nice.
  2. a little weak sounding
  3. a decent song with some nice tenderness...maybe could be faster.

  1. A pure synth-based song on Get Ready! The drumming (programming?), is crisp, esp. at the break near the ending bridge (the snippit on the 5 11 menu). Barney's singing and lyrics esp. strong on this one, more Republic era sounding than Get Ready (a plus point in my book)
  2. The intro. Always sounded like a Nintendo game MIDI song for some reason
  3. What I want from New Order on their next LP
  4. 95%

1 Those simple piano chords in the final part, they're so touching... Oh, and Bernard singing wonderfully: "You've got a vicious streak for someone soyoooooung You're like the solar flair in the rising suuuuuun" 2 Get Ready is a great album but this song is unique, there aren't others sounding like it, I wish there were. 3 Best song on Get Ready, slightly second to Player In The League for the title of best song since 1989, that means best song of the last 15 years! :thumb: 4 999.99%

PS: Try driving by night small roads in the country with VS on the car stereo... magic...

Its quite subtle,if you stripped Barneys vocal it could be a group like Boards Of Canada,Air or Royksopp. Thats the nice thing about it,its a change of direction but still fits in with their sound. A highlight on the album, would of made a good summer time single. :)

What the heck is going on in this thread?

This song is cool - particularly if someone close to you is behaving like 'a solar flare in the morning sun' and 'you keep hanging on' regardless...:confused2:

Good bit of ambient synthwork/psychedelic lyricism among the predominant guitararama of GR.

Fair cop-I remember there's SOME guitar on it but nowhere near as much as the rest of GR.

This is one of those songs I code incessantly to. Truly love its simplicity and focus on instrumentation. Again, lonely music which fits the summary at the conclusion of the song.

Kinda reminds me of me, when I was 20'ish and rather stupid.
