the way it peaks and dips in the middle of the track, it almost carries you along with it in a dramatic kinda way
Listen to it occasionaly and its hard to dislike this track, be nice if it sounded a little "softer" as its supposedly quite a melanchonic track
I love the fact that it doesnt sound laboured and that NO have crafted a lovely bit of music without vocals yet which doesnt sound like an BM instrumental :)

Coronation Chicken! terrific :D
Bores the shit out of me this song so I can't remember good bits/bad bits cos I haven't listened to it for so long.
Sandwich filler - cheese and pickle. Very dull I know.
Eligia, what a choice
Best bit is that it is an "instrumental" of sorts
Worst bit...humm...a little too long maybe
I like it for the sound...

turkey
My two cents:
1 Best bit is it soothes me when I'm in a bad mood
2 Worst bit....it usually puts me in a bad mood after the first 30 seconds
3 I can take it or leave it

I'm gonna have this tune played at my funeral, which is about the only place it is fit to be played at, if you know what I mean....
If it don't bore the pants off everyone there, I'll re-incarnate myself and buy everyone a beer or 12

Well what do you expect? It is just an edit of the LONGER version... ![]()
I dig the bass playin'!! It does slow down the album a bit much. It's a great "Mood" tune. It can bring me down were I need to be, or can be uplifting to a degree. Basically if you're an ass going in, you'll be a bigger one coming out. 83.5% Roast Beef & Onions & Swiss cheez...
BTW - Has anybody figured out what in the heck is being uttered in the middle of the original 16 min version of this piece of work?

Domo Arigato!
The guitar near the end of the album version.
Not a fan of the keyboard sound at all.
Meanders on a bit too long; don't hate it, but don't listen to it very much.

Sorry I'm late folks!
Oops! I forgot the one that judges the song best:
(1. Best Bit, 2. Worst Bit, 3. Why you love/hate it, 4. A percentage rating 5. Your fave sandwich filling)
Best Bit: The 17 minute version is fantastic, so overly dramatic
Worst Bit: The keyboard part bugs me after awhile, Hooky's bass is way too high, and the guitar doesn't fit. But I still like it oddly.
Why love/hate it?: It's from an era when New Order took artistic chances, rather than having to think about what the dickweeds at London Records thought about it
Rating: 60%
Sandwich Filling: Chicken/Turkey/Ham/Salami...doesn't matter as long as there's cheese and mayo ![]()
Would of been better if the 16min version had been on TPK 12" & they put something else on Lowlife (thieves like us?)
When Low-Life came out i was neutral on it,would`ve liked another track instead. However, since Retro its grown on me considerably & i really like it now.
1 The best bit: the bass
2 The worst bit: tends to be a bit heavy, especially with keyboards
3 Why I like it: Gabrielles Wish covered it, check the live cover media archive...
Plus, this is my 100th post! :)
Never thought I'd have written so many, but I've started to like following this board, though it takes much time...

Indeed*!*
On the contrary. I prefere the edit version on Low-Life. Does anyone know if the 17 minute version was done in one track? The guitars towards the end make the song a complete shambolic mess. But the edited version is sublime.
nul points!! If it wasnt recorded by n.o. you wouldnt give it time of day!! SANDWICH..........somebody elses egg sandwich on a hot day...on a long coach journey.........where you cant open the windows!!
