ESPN must have been shocked that that goal went in, they keep going on and on how casey Keller (us keeper) is the best in the world and has an advantage because he plays in germany and how if he was a brazilian, italian or German he would get the respect he deserves.

FUCK, that was some goal - I just switched on the TV & about 15 seconds later the Czechs scored their second - fantastic goal!

Yeah, the FIFA rankings are a joke, as I've said before. Everyone who knows anything about football knows that. They think that because we're ranked 5 (actually tied for 5th, which they never mention) and Italy are ranked 13, that we should be them! 
Besides which the Czech Republic are ranked higher than us, so even if you do believe the rankings, we're not supposed to win this game. Maybe they keep mentioning that we're ranked 5th to drum up interest. 
So, all we have to do is throw everything at them, get the bal to Donavan, get the ball in the net, give it 110%, want it more, button down the hatches, etc...
Not a good effort today for the US, I bet ChrissiMari's stoked that one of the ESPN talking heads said something about how "now is the time for Claudio Reyna's leadership" to come to the forefront.

While watching US coverage of the world cup.. the commentators will take any opportunity to mention Claudio Reyna that they possibly can. They of course forget to mention the fact that he is fucking USELESS.
The game isn't that complicated it's basically two parts:

Yeah but no but yeah but.... The US are definitely not the 5th best team in the World are they? Even with Koller fit, I wouldnae back the Czechs to win it. The Czechs are good - but no match for Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Holland.
I was at work, so I sorta watched the game via the net on Yahoo. After reading about the final score and listening to the hype from the EPSN announcers for the last week before the game. First thing that came to my mind was "Over Rated".
I almost think that the US team bought into all the hype and figured that they could just phone in the game and still win. Now with the in fighting between the players and coaches, the next game vs Italy should be interesting.

Nice drinking game there CM, between yours and the drinking game I saw somewhere else (can't find it now......rats) about the things the US commentators were liable to say (i.e. #5 FIFA ranking, Portugal in 2002, blah blah blah, etc.), I would've needed a new liver. By today. 
I think I stated in here once or twice that the USA would be first to be dumped out of the competition. Looks like Poland have beaten them to it. Go USA!. That's something to build on.

You're probably right but after that game and the fact that they arguably should have won Euro 2004 don't write them off.
The USA cheat the FIFA rankings by only playing against crap CONCAF opponents like The Dutch Antilles and the Turks And Caicos Islands...

Methinks ACR.net is referring to 1998. We (the US, that is) did much better in 2002, and Iran did not qualify for the World Cup that year.
