I'll go with 2-1 Italy, Johnson getting the only goal (late in the match) for the U.S. Hope I'm wrong though.

I'm gonna say 1-0 USA, only to disagree with everyone else, not like I really believe it.

1 Italy Gilardino -22 1 USA Zaccardo -27 now.

Yellow and a Red card each to both. another to Pope. USA.

Is it me or is this ref a complete JOKE?

Yup..

The referee completely ruined the game, with two somewhat dodgy sendings off for the USA, particularly the second one. Hats off to the USA for pulling off a very credible draw, and exposing Italy as being rather dull and uncreative. The referee gave them the opportunity to win, yet they still looked second best.

Makes the group more interesting as all four can technically qualify, although watching the Ghana match today, they are on a roll. Vey powerful.

As for Italy though, not looking like their year on todays showing.

Sorry to disagree, the referee was completly right in all red cards applied.

Surely the best game I've seen until now. My congrats to the US Team, brave warriors to the end.

I also think the ref was fair for both sides.

USA showed great strength and are still alive in the competition. I'm really impressed.

I saw Match of the Day again.. saw it all in slo-mo. I guess in the context of refereeing going on currently in this WC, it was fair.

I was just showing some sympathy for our American friends:evil4:

oh dear is italy in mourning?

The refereeing sucks in this WC. Too many cards. Let the lads play.

Can a better fan of the game lend their experience to help me understanding those ejections. Maybe someone can break down the rules a bit better and apply it the video or pictures floating on the web. I really want an impartial answer. The media in america is not known for its objectivity.

Go italy Go usa

Go italy Go usa

The Italian sending off was for an elbow to the face The first US one was a two footed tackle The second US one was a second yellow on pope for a tackle that was borderline and I think in most cases would have gotten a caution but the ref was right to give it

I had no idea the US team was so friggin physical.

it's making me see them in a slightly better light.

Now imagine if the US would actually get an European manager.... could be fucking great!
