Cheating bastard. Great players don't need to cheat. That second goal will never be as good as it should have been, merely because of the first "goal".
Would he even get in this Argentina side though?

Which bit?
Nobody can dispute that he cheated. He can call it what he likes, he's still a cheating cunt. Because of that, it is impossible for many English supporters to fully appreciate just how brilliant the legitimate goal he also scored in the same game was.
As for whether he would get in this current Argentina side, I'm not convinced that he was ever as great a player as the media love to make him out to be, and from what I've seen of the current crop of players, Tevez and Messi would keep him out!
It's a good job there's never ever been an English player that has cheated during a match eh?! :)
Maradona!

Thought media elected Pele as the greatest player ever ![]()
Don't know why some people can still think that Maradona was the best player ever. He did some great matches during his career, but you can't compare to what Pele has done in his one - that started at 15 with a World Cup winning in 58 (and he wasn't bench), and ended at 35 with the same brillance. 3 World Cups, more than 1000 goals (he wasn't even a forward and no, it wasn't against cheap teams, at least almost all the times!) and a few great videos (sadly they're few, considering the time he played) can't lie.
Brazil had a pretty good squad huh? and he played in that rough brazilian league for his entire career too, maradona was on championship teams in Spain and Italy, in fact Napoli never won before or since Maradona left
but i suppose a 1,000 goals for santos makes up for that?

Contradiction. That rough brazilian league that had the players who gave him the pretty good squad. Santos was 2 times World champions. And don't forget that Napoli had a brilliant team too (Careca, Alemão, De Napoli, Ferrara...), it was not Maradona + 10.
Any comparison only could come from a sentimental side, maybe a inferiority complex.

Agree 100%...
SHEDi xxx
still reckon his Belgium goal was better and loads he scored for Napoli during his beard years were better too.
a goals a goal. even the hand of god one.
I can't stand Maradona, but what was he supposed to do? Say "excuse me, Mr. Referee, but that wasn't really a goal, but a handball. Please remove the goal from the scoresheet."? Any athlete in that situation would have done the same.
BTW, my best ever vote goes to Pelè, but we've covered that in another thread.
