I have to say I've been muting the commentary on some games recently...

It's curious that Brazil has such a better image at foreign countries than in its own country. Here, it's almost a common sense that we played awfully in all the 4 matches so far (except a little against Japan). The TV people who broadcast the Cup (I also frequently mute them) believe in general that it's more important to win than making a spectacle (which I agree, by the way).
The word in this squad by our coach is "efficiency". Weather we're being efficient or not, this is not a showtime team. It could even be, but that's not the main point to win a World Cup, second Parreira. What bothers me is not the lack of fun; it's the lack of production of almost all the players, that don't perform the same they do in their teams. And that's certainly our coach's fault.
"Apart from having a side full of clock-stopping uglies and chubbsters" is such a stupid comment. If the guy likes to watch metrosexuals running with sweaty shirts go rent a fuckin' gay movie instead. Is this football or a beauty contest, for heaven's sake?
I can't say a word about the commentators (looks like everywhere in the world they're shite), but here the Brazilian Team is being very criticized. Parreira's way of playing is the search for victory, despite the spectacle. And that, for our culture, is much uglier than the players that bother this Johnnie Faggie so much.
An other thing is that feeling of "Brazil Vs. The World" that has been going on. Everyone that is not Brazilian want to see them fail, and I believe this is a natural sports' fan thing, but unacceptable for someone who intends to write seriously. Maybe Johnnie Pinky should quit writing and try sewing.
Parreira says that "history is made of victories, not spectacles". Maybe he's right, I've told you already that real game is no Nike's advertising. But the REAL truth is that Brazil has not played well yet and our question is if it ever will.

I think you are taking things a bit too seriously in your first comment.
I don't know where you get the idea that everyone not Brazilian wants to seem them fail. Many Scots would much rather Brazil wins than England, plenty of English would prefer to see Brazil win than Germany or France...Generally nations oppose their immediate neighbours and rivals but smile benevalently on countries a long way away that they've never fought wars against.

I know that many people, in Asia, for example, root for Brazil. My wife is from Bangladesh, where they enjoy football but suck at it. So, come World Cup time, most of them root for Brazil. I actually tend to think of Brazil as "the World's team". However, when you are number one, you will always have your fair share of haters and people who root against you. Just ask any successful sports team. In fact, i'd even say it's a sign of respect.

Both Brazil and England have at times played rubbish. Yet Brazil are doing it on purpose; "not needing to step it up", "able to beat teams playing at 70%" England are; "just shite"
It's wearing a bit thin and frankly, is turning a lot of people away from a team that may end up worthy champions.
I don't want to make spectacle, I want to be champion. We were wonderful in the 80's but we didn't win anything. The sixth star is coming soon
