Does that mean Milan get to keep all their players. I think the rest of Europe was getting ready for the free for all.

Typically the appeal reduced the sentences, Fiorentina and Lazio are back in Serie A but with increased points penalties, Milan are allowed into Europe but with an increased domestic points penalty, and Juve stay relegated but with a lesser points penalty. They will still get promoted this coming season, may even be worth a few quid on them.

no games whatsoever while i was there. did you visit the BOCA museum? it was pretty good. i also passed by the world cup stadium in Mendoza that hosted some of the games in '78 but we were not in mendoza for long so i didnt get a chance to get into the stadium

i was forced to visit river too(girlfriend and nephews are river)

hopefully i will get to visit some english stadiums on my next vacation, and definetly get to a match

so basically in a season or two things will be back to normal in italy, match fixing, racism and all.

I'll bet that slap on the wrist really hurt, though.

If AC Milan gets to play in the Champions League, it would be incredibly sad on UEFA's part.

Hopefully they've been penalized heavily enough in points that that can't happen.

It's official - Milan are allowed to play in the CL, so they will meet Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) in the third qualifying round (Crvena Zvezda beat Cork 4:0 on agragate - i got the feeling that the ref was just happy to be leaving with all his limbs, he looked scared to give anything against Red Star [& the commentators alluded to 'security problems' about 50 times during the 90 minutes!]. No complaints about who were the better team, but something like a 3:1 win would have been a fairer reflection of the 2 games)

And today Lazio has appealed its punishment in Italy's match fixing scandal to the Italian Olympic Committee's (CONI ) arbitration court. Lazio and Club president Claudio Lotito lodged an appeal.. Lazio banned from European Club competition + docked 11 points in this season's series A Champion .. Lotito barred from soccer for 2 1/2 years.

Juventus last week appealed its sanctions to CONI after it was stripped of its last two Series A titles and demoted to Series B with a 17 point penalty. The other two clubs sanctioned in the sports trial, AC Milan and Fiorentina, are considering making an appeal.

Juventus, Lazio, and Fiorentina have also threatened to go to Italy's Civil Courts if their appeals are unsuccessful. Prosecuters in Napels, Rome, Parma and Turin are also conducting seperate criminal probes into sport fraud, illegal betting and false book keeping. globeandmail.com. No surprises there then but it has become full spectrum.
