Uefa warning over imaginary cards

Uefa has ruled that any player who waves an imaginary card in an attempt to get an opponent booked will be cautioned themselves. Referees have also been ordered to clamp down on dissent and book at least one player should they be surrounded by a protesting group.

The directives were issued to Uefa's elite and premier referees at a meeting in Nyon this week.

They come into immediate effect for this weekend's Euro 2008 qualifiers. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/5306148.stm

refs have been looking like wimps in the big games for years now - turning a blind eye to all that crap - its not football, its acting, so it deserves a card
