Reason #1...........France has won the world cup before. Anything game that France can win I hate.

Sidenote....I do like the French player who headbutted that Italian guy..he's cool.

Reason #2....Those fake soccer injuries. I never understood how a guy can be on the ground in such pain that he needs two men to help him off the field, but then during the next stoppage he's back running around like nothing happened.

i.e. [Late in the game, Italy star Roberto Baggio, a guy who in his pro career makes millions of dollars a year, gets kicked in the shins and falls down. Clutching his leg, he rolls around wailing on the pitch for a while until the referee comes over, then plays it up a little more, appearing-to the untrained eye, anyway-to be literally CRYING with pain. Impressed, the referee pulls a yellow card out of his pocket: penalty, Chile! Satisfied, Baggio gets up and trots off happily down the field, obviously unhurt. He went on later to score the game-tying goal on a cheap penalty shot.]

it's called histrionics. one of the most entertaining things about watching football. though apparently people tend to see it as an incitement to beat each other up. never understood why people can't just watch the fucking game and leave it at that. it's just a diversion, you know.

Reason # 3.....I've never seen Manchester City win a game whenever cable shows them play. I route for them, I don't know why, maybe because there not United...and they never seem to win.

Perhaps the reason you hate 'soccer' and France for that matter is because you know absolutely nothing about them.

Reason #6...Soccer player haircuts.

Somebody should tell these "guys" that just because you tapdance with a ball for 90 minutes it's not an excuse to get your haircut to look like an idiot. Soccer fans, you know what I mean.
For the love of God, people, never ever get a soccer haircut.

Reason #7....Soccer noise/singing/cheering.

The following is a quote..."Soccer cheering has no point. Football fans successfully cause opposing teams' offenses to call timeouts, use up the play clock, screw up audibles or cause procedure penalties.... Soccer? They sing songs - which all sound the same - regardless of outcome. It doesn't celebrate performance. It doesn't serve to intimidate. It has no purpose."

Yeah. Especially when Ichiro plays: observe the man, the legend.

Do you sit alone in your dorm room conjuring up ways to see just how ignorant you can make yourself seem, or does all this shit you spout just come naturally?

Reason #8......Soccer players are walking advertisements.

(Sidenote....this reason also applies to Nascar)

Reason #9......it is called the "Beautiful?!" game....

First off, if I ever said to my friends, "hey, letz go play the beautiful game, la la la la..." I probably would've been ridiculed throughout my childhood.

Second, what is so beautiful about soccer hooligans beating up old ladies, rioting, people setting themselves on fire because their team lost, players getting murdered over a bad game by their own people, or dictatorial gov'ts threatening the penalty of death to it's national team players if they suck.

Third, obviously whoever came up with this term never saw a bunch of ugly soccer players wearing tiny shorts, socks up to their knees and the God Awful soccer player haircuts.
  (see reason #6)

Reason #10......... 0-0..??

Why are there so many games that end in tie scores, especially zero/zero? Because this game sucks, that's why. There is no entertainment value here whatsoever, especially when so many games end zero/zero. 90+ minutes of watching clowns pass the ball around with their feet, no one scores, and then you go home. How exciting.

Reason #11....Brazilian Soccer players with only one name.

Pele? Ronaldo? Romario?? Lord knows who else is on the list...Are they so good that they don't deserve being called by their full name? Maybe it's because soccer is not a real sport that they don't have to be called by their real, FULL names...

Reason #13...Soccer counts the time up.

Not only is soccer extremely boring, it is extremely stupid... Soccer games don't count the time that remains, but the time that has already gone by!? Why do they keep time when soccer doesn't refer to time anyway?? Why is all the focus on the past? The score already reflects all the relevant info about the game. In a game where the final score is a tie, this info wouldn't matter anyway,.

Reason #14....Soccer highlights focus on what almost happens.

["When ESPN has the poor sense to show soccer highlights, they show missed shots, missed passes, etc. Any real sport shows things that actually contribute to the result. Soccer participants do not care about the result."]...because in the end, the score will be tied....

Reason #15.....Penalty kicks to decide the winner after playing overtime and the game is STILL tied!...

This has no relevance to the rest of the game, yet it is used to determine the winner. It is especially dumb in the World Cup championship game...it's like the previous 100+ minutes didn't even matter. This is just as thoughtless as if Baseball replaced extra innings in with batting practice.

HEY! There are some supporters of a particular club here who wouldn't have one two of their trophies in the past two years if it weren't for this!

Reason #16...Soccer is perverted. Don't believe me? Well...

...and that was before the game.

...practicing their headers

...see the kickers eyes..this was not unintentional

...neither was this

...there might be kids watching, but they don't mind

...the evidence speaks for itself. These guys are nowhere near the play. Disgraceful.

Reason #17.... manchester united. They suck. Then again, all soccer teams suck. nod: (see reason 16)

Reason #18....Soccer is not objective.

"There is no play clock. The game doesn't end after the clock has run down. This adds bias, subjectivism and appeals to lower intellects, and it destroys the drama from last second victories. Contrast such clumsy timekeeping (shame on the Swiss, who should know better) and the lack of any discernable strategy with the strategic precision of the two-minute drill in football."

Jon Murphy wrote: the two-minute drill in football."

are you referring to the final two minutes of either half of an American Football Game...which is really a misnomer, as these "four" minutes seem to account for almost an hour of each game...

thanx dude....someone finally gets it...yes, I'm reffering to the final two minutes of gameclock time in football, that with the timeouts and all is closer to 10 to 15 minutes.

However, wathching two minutes of Soccer at any point in the game is so boring that it seems that 10 minutes go by...

so why is it that yanks play team sports that the rest of the world don't play?, scared or something?, you have the "world series", hmmmm, lets see now , how many countries take part????. meanwhile, the rest of the planet take part in the world cup. just a side note, "soccer" is a term invented by the english for asSOC(cer)iation footbal.:read:

You have a lot of work to do then pal, as you are in a minority smaller than the "Steve McClaren is God" club. Not that that will mean anything to you at all.
