Would be very good for us if it happens !

The Evening Standard can reveal that Paul Allen has expressed an interest in making a takeover bid for Southampton, the listed football club vying for promotion to the financial riches of the Premiership.

Not to dissuade you too much, but Allen's track record as a sports owner here is so-so, at best. With his horrible hiring decisions in terms of the personnel for the Portland Trail Blazers, he's nearly ruined one of the best community supported franchises ever into a nationwide joke for inept management and moronic players who'd rather get high than concentrate on their job, a nightmare from which we are just beginning to recover from. (He has done a bit better with the Seattle Seahawks, but since they are located in his home town, he can't get away with the same crap that he did in Portland, the two towns are about 180 miles from each other).

I'm not one to go into panic mode with the idea of foreign ownership of a sports team, provided that the prospective buyer knows something about the team or sport, or has a very close adviser who does, but I'm not sure that Paul Allen can boast any of that.
