Never could stand referees who want to be the centre of attention, who think they should be the most important figure on the pitch.
You don't notice a good ref doing things. All refs should learn from Collina, he's the ultimate in how to do the job properly. His autobiography was fascinating, all the preparation he did every day before every game. Many managers would do well to take a leaf out of his book.

Seen Collina ref the Celtic v Stuttgart UEFA Cup game at CP in 2003,commented to my mate after the match about how you "never even noticed he was there", he let the game flow,and only stopped it when he had to.

got to agree on that,collina is a or was a top ref. he was to me also a very stern ref,bit like rugbyl and rugby u refs dont take no shit.thanks for that tip on the book reckon i,ll get that. cheers monkey
