What the hell is football coming to!
Brums Radhi Jaidi was stood about six yards offside, right in front of Pepe Reina. Great free kick by Larsson.... but Jaidi was interferring with play.
The off side rule is a mess, with each and every ref having their own opinion/interpretation.
For the good of football we need the FA/UEFA/FIFA to get together and sort this mess out.
Theres an old saying "if youre not interfering with play, then you shouldnt be on the bloody pitch!".
Great play by the Birmingham player. Why hasnt anyone thought of this before? Youre right, the offside rule is a complete mess. Go back to offside being just that. Any player higher up the pitch than 2 opposing players is classified as offside. No questions, no debate, no doubt!
Thierry Henry was one of the pioneers of the passive offside distraction ploy, and it should come as no surprise that this stupid law is being stretched to free kicks.
If you are goalhanging, you are offside. That was the reason why the offside rule itself was originally introduced (to stop boring long balls hooved from one end of the pitch to the other). The sooner that this passive/active rule is abolished the better.
