No Martin, it's the football forum so I'm talking about where you stood in at the Victoria Ground.
Before the fad of naming stands after ex footballers there were some ace names for the ends of each ground. Too young for the scratching shed I graduated from the boys pen (50p entry) to the Gelderd, looking back its amusing that thousands of blokes would sing that they were the Gelded (sic) every weekend.
Anyway, Gelderd - left side.
what was your end called?
Ours was the mighty BOOTHEN END, but for a few seasons in my youth I stood in the BUTLER STREET PADDOCK.

Mostly the Celtic End in the 80's, stood in The Jungle a few times though. Latterly was the North Stand after Celtic Park had been re-developed. Very seldom manage up to games nowadays though.
i was born in the blackburn end and its now called,erm,the blackburn end. was it huddersfield's main end that was called the 'cow shed end' ?

hibs used to have an end called the cow shed(bit of an insult to cowsheds though)

Huddersfield did indeed have a Cowshed, a small end behind the nets. The Pop side ran along the side.

I make it six: Brighton, Bolton, Shrewsbury (more times than I ever care to remember), Derby, Leicester, Wigan.
It would be more but no self-respecting punter is going to count "stands that no longer exist", surely?

Bolton Wanderers Burnden Park Big uncovered open end, huge scrap in the road outside. Derby County Baseball Ground. Loved the atmosphere at this ground, was in a pub that was drunk dry on the saturday dinnertime, ended up drinking bottles of cider until they ran out as well. Huddersfield Town Leeds Road The local rivals, been there loads. Best memory was Gorge McCluskey and Ian Baird cheering us on because we'd got the best seats in the town end. Hull City Boothferry Park Dump, one side completely closed by Health and Safety due to state of stand. Manchester City Maine Road Been there plenty of times, never liked it. Plenty of bother. Middlesbrough Ayresome Park Bother again, marched through Middlesbrough town centre, lots of scraps in alleyways as we went. Seats ripped out in ground then gates broken open to get at the locals. Gates closed then with a couple of thousand outside and the same inside. Nice Bovril. Millwall The Den Shit day, toilets overflowing with piss running down the terraces, coach driver turned south to get onto M25 as directed by the police, traffic jam all the way to M1, got off M25 at half past nine!!! Scunthorpe United Old Show GroundNo pubs in Scunny! Went for league cup 2nd leg, drew went back for replay and lost, couldn't find a pub either time. Admittedly, it's quite impressive these days but for the cunts that occupy it.
Indeed I did. A 17 year old Timmy Flowers in the nets getting 'Timmy it's time to come in now' shouted at him throughout the game. Half time pitch invasion by the Wolves fans who didn't come much closer than the half way line. A full coach load of Leeds fans getting arrested on the way down due to excessive dope smoking and glue sniffing - told to me by two friends who had blagged their way onto the last two seats as the coach was departing, both are now in the force!

Worse ground I went to off the list was Gillingham, and they say its grim up north

Wolves was always a bit dodgy Shrewsbury was a walk over Derby like a row Man City fight back Oldham Hahahahaha Scunthorpe knocked us out of the league cup 4-2 Cammock and Brolly ran us ragged Gillingham knocked us out of the league cup when they were 92nd in the football league, played in front of the lowest crowd ever at just over 8000. The Lowfields had the best bar and the 2 old boys that served beer used to pull it off into buckets and leave it on the bar for after the game Oxford, nice ground Sunderland, had to run fast that day Chelsea, funniest football match ever, what a riot Birmingham, sad day when the wall fell down, also tripped over an 18 inch machete that had been left behind Huddersfield, street battles Charlton, crap
