i find it amusing that our goalie literally had to chuck it into the back of his own net earlier for the colonials to get a goal and an ill-deserved point. I suspect it might have been a Obama/Cameron stitch up in exchange for O to shut up about BP for a couple of days.

England should end the 1st stage in the 1st place anyway, you're candidates.

I'd be more worried for the lack of offensive power than for just an isolated big mistake of the goalkeeper.

England needs a goalkeeper urgently!

England seems a bit slow, can't they play some younger guys?

almost as amusing as the powerful English squad need the Japs to put two in their own net for your boys to win...A FRIENDLY!!!

best part was taking my smack talkin' UK friends to a local pub to share in our 1:1 VICTORY!

Lets face it...the Brits have keeper issues, a slow central defense (that only gets older/slower with King out).

Rooney can't scream at the refs like he does in the premiership so he actually has to play to get calls (ok he is one of the top five in the world but I still had to get that one in)

Gerard and Lampard don't work well together (they can't both run things).

Yes the UK has loads of talent but they don't really play well enough TOGETHER to be one of the semifinalists of this Cup.

We even spotted you by starting Findley (who sucks hard)...instead of putting in Holden in the midfield and pushing Dempsey up to where he usually plays and is most dangerous...

Oh...and you can say what you like but Altidore smoked Carragher and should have had a 2nd for us if Green hadn't made a stellar save...so you took one from us as well.

Howard wasn't brilliant...most of his saves were routine...because England's finishing was atrocious (apart from Gerard of course)...you barely made our keeper work.

Also...nice work starting Milner...that was more of a "howler" than starting Green...

Yes, you will win the group, but you won't get past the quarters...no way either the US or the UK beats Germany.

its great to see a Yank telling us 'how it's gonna be' after one match. (or should that be one 'play', (fuck knows))

I just watched the World Champs claw back a draw against Paraguay, so i reckon all this wishy washy bollocks talk about being out in the quarters, is a bit premature, if not completely likely.

Shame it's not a British team, then you could have a decent goalie. :)

"Colonials"... So be it... Very boring sport, soccer is. Football- the American kind is where it is at... flame on. ;)

News from the camp is that Robert Green faced 50 shots yesterday without letting a single one in.

Him and Emile Heskey will rejoin the rest of the squad for training today.

I just would like to see England get knocked out by someone other than Argentina/Brazil/Germany/Portugal for a change. It's getting really boring being knocked out by the same teams every time.Let's get knocked out by some other nation for a change, yer know, make it interesting! That's the best we can wish for:lol:

Ok so I was wrong about ENGLAND winning the group but not so much about getting beaten in the quarters by Germany

Well, you was wrong about that, as we could never have faced Germany in the quarters, whether finishing first or second.

Well now that Japan is now out they've joined the list of countries out of the Round of 16. That said I'm not extremely disappointed in Japan's performance overall. It's our 1st time we made it this far on foreign soil. And maybe the team can be known for having potential instead of being sort of short w/ strange hair.

As for Japan we'll have to deal w/ the AFC Asian Cup & continue our rivalry w/ S.Korea & Australia.

Anyway good luck to those who advanced!
