As a misguided but fiecely loyal Forest fan, I can only drum up empathy at the current dismal plight of the Forest. I thought Maclaren would be brilliant for us (if he got the players he wanted) but crap (if he didnt).
So the outcome is more predictable than an episode of X-factor. After David Pleat (employed by Forest to make the purchase of players impossible) leaving last week, the chairman and owner (Nigel Doughty is standing down at the end of the season).
While Im glad they have all had the diginity to leave, where exactly does that leave forest? Deep in the brown stuff. What manager in their right mind would take over? The squads not good enough and were gonna be lucky to escape relegation.
The board and (Nigel especially) should have backed Billy Davies more as we made the play offs in consecutive seasons but were a couple of players short of really challenging.
Of course, I doubt anyone here gives a toss (its only forest after all) but with all the bad feeling about new order this just about tops it off.
In fact Forest and Joy Division/New Order have a lot in common. Both peaked in the late 70's, had good times in the 80's, fell apart in the 90's and were treading water in the noughties.
rant over.
