John Barnes appeared on stage with Peter Hook & The Light at Manchester Academy on June 4 to perform the rap from New Order's 'World In Motion', their only Number One single. Barnes, who originally recorded the rap for the 1990 World Cup anthem, delivered the verse at the midpoint of Hook's 35-track chronological set, which marked the 50th anniversary of the Sex Pistols' historic 1976 Lesser Free Trade Hall show.

Joy Division and New Order are being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this November in Los Angeles. Peter Hook, speaking to Billboard, described the honour as 'well-earned' and framed it as a 'vote of confidence from the fans' rather than personal recognition for the band members. Despite ongoing tensions with the surviving members of New Order, Hook is planning to attend the November 14 ceremony.

Joy Division and New Order will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 14 November 2026. Peter Hook, a founding member who wasn't part of the band's 2011 reunion, has expressed his delight at the news and hinted that New Order could reunite for the ceremony. It's the third nomination for the Manchester legends.
