about lp/tape to cd.

i'm interested in tranferring my lp and mass tape selection to cd via my computor. yesterday i bought computor active mag / issue 145 and theres a piece in there about it. they used "ahead software nero 6" priced at 50 quid. they say its straight forward and looks simple and i don't think the price is bad. this was mentioned on here a few weeks ago with rocket so if he or some others who might have it could let me know about it and if its worth getting and if its as simple to use as they say i would appreciate it.

We (that's the royal we) use SOUNDFORGE V.6 . Deek downloaded it for nought off the internet but you need a pretty up to date machine to run it. If you can't find it, he says he can burn the programme to cd for you.

I use Music Match Jukebox to record the tapes through the sound card, then Cool Edit Pro and Soundforge to get them sounding at their best, then Nero to burn them to CD.

i just use dbPowerAmp. it has its quirks--i still don't know how to separate 'tracks' when transfering my vinyl to my computer, thus i get two 15-20min tracks. i'm sure there is a way.

upside : its completely free

How about getting an audio CD recorder?. You can pick one up for £100-150. I use one to record tapes via an Azden 12 band equalizer

Same here with MUSIC MATCH JUKEBOX (paid for this though!).Cool Edit /Soundforge...did you have to purchase these?Sounds interesting. Grell...the software SHOULD split your VINYL's but it is HIT and MISS.Try the long winded way...STOP after EACH track.Long winded but GREAT results! :D

I'll send them to you Mick - I got them from Jan, and they have been invaluable.

Biscuit people - get yourselves to tuwcows.com and download a 'free' audio recorder for PC (Mac if you are a vegetarian) - plug your left and right line out from your amp. into your soundcard and press record.

It couldn't be simpler.
