Best New Order Album to begin my collection with?

Raise the Pressure? sure i has a few good tracks but it cannot compare to either of Electronic's other two albums. I can understand why you like the album, since it was partly produced by one of the members of Kraftwerk, but c'mon Twisted Tenderness is a gem compared to Raise the Pressure

Our difference of opinion is interesting Tristan, since I would easily take Electronic's debut album over Tristed Tenderness. In my opnion, on average, the songs and melodies of Twisted Tenderness aren't as catchy as the other two albums. To each his own.

I like the debut album a lot as well, almost as much as Twisted Tenderness, but Raise the Pressure, to me, seemed mediocre, and when do songs need to be catchy when they sound as great as "Vivid" does. If you want catchy just turn the channel to MTV ;)

Tristan, I do like "Vivid." Nice British pop.

To me what is great about New Order and Electronic is they have these few different styles that they always tend to revisit. The British pop sound, the dance sound, and the alternative rock sound. As with all of us, they have different moods and tastes.

Let me also add a couple points.

1.

One aspect of Raise the Pressure that I enjoy the most is the female harmony singing. Sometimes I think Bernard needs the support.

Moving over to New Order for a minute...I think it all comes down to personal taste but after hearing the update of "Sub-culture" on Substance 1987 (with added harmonies), I have no desire to listen to the original on Low-life. And I know some people do not like New Order to utilize female harmony singers. A friend of mine thinks it's cheesy. I can go on with my thoughts about this but I'm interested in your replies to far.

2.

I think it's all in the way you define "catchy." To someone catchy might equal cheesy or top 40. To me it means a good melody I can follow and enjoy over and over. I understand the difference between the MTV version of catchy and my version. I am here and not on a Matchbox 20 web site. ;)

I want to buy Twisted Tenderness, but they don't have it stocked in any local record stores. :( I love Vivid and the algum cover.

I found my copy at Best Buy if you can belive it!....I was shocked, and had to get it

Very lucky...I was looking for a Erasure CD (shut up Jeff!) and saw the place tag for Electronic.....and it was the only CD there!
