i went to the annual 'halloween horror nights' at universal studios last night. they run it every year throughout the month of october and this was my first outing. it wasn't scary at all (despite what my students had told me), but it was rather trippy seeing leatherface look-a-likes wandering around a smoke-laden dr. seussland with running chainsaws. the 'insane asylum' house of horrors (normally the jurassic park pavilion) had a section set up to look like a filthy restroom, complete with overflowing toilets and poo smeared all over the walls. they even managed to concoct a surprisingly accurate 'poo smell' which was quite impressive. don't know if i'd pay to go again, but it was worth one trip.

Yeah, they do that here in Cleveland at Jacobs Field, except over the summer.

Every year my workplace allows us one day to be complete idiots and dress up for Halloween. I was entertaining the notion of going as Saddam Hussein if I had to work that day, but something tells me that would piss people off...so it's all the more reason to do so! :D

in 8th grade i went as tammy faye bakker and won the 'golden avocado' award for best costume during homeroom. my chorus teacher had a thing for avocados...

it was a fun costume, only my fake eyelashes kept getting stuck together.

/ did you have the inch of makeup on your face? Hmm... a golden avocado does not sound very appetizing.

naturally. and that evening i wept when unsuspecting homeowners opened their doors, begging them for candy with mascara running down my cheeks.
