1 Scottish League Cup Final 1994 The mighty Raith Rovers beat Celtic on penalties at Death Star. Luckily enough I wasnae at this, as I wasnae drawn from the ballot at our CSC. Never been so embarassed in my life! And the stick I took at work and in the pub was just unbelievable! I made sure I wore the Celtic top on my first day of work after this debacle - otherwise the stick handed out would have been worse (if that is possible)
2 1990 World Cup Finals Scotland 0 Costa Rica 1 What can you say? We were absolute shite. We were beaten by a bunch of amateur league players, no-one gave Costa Rica a prayer, but then again with Scotland we should have known better, who can forget Zaire and Iran and Peru
I know that Maurice "Judas" Johnstone was up front, and I'm guessing he was joined by "Super" Ally, I give up how many chances were wasted by these two half wits! And if I remember correctly Stevie Nicol came closest to getting a Scotland goal....and lets just say you'd put more money on Jim Leighton scoring than Stevie Nicol:D
3 Celtic v Rangers 1994-1997 These should have been the happiest times in my life
I think the huns had already done 5 in a row, which was bad enough, but for nearly 3 years we couldn't beat our fiercest enemies. They were the most boring bastards in the world, constantly Celtic would have 65% of the possession, but we just couldnae get past that fat cross dresser in goal (Andy Goram) and to make matters worse, they would run up the pitch at the end of the game and put a couple past us The football Celtic played during these days was superb, but not being able to beat Rangers was hard, espescially when we had players up front such as Di Canio, Jorge Cadete & Pierre Van Hooijdonk. I think their run of wins started late 1994 and lasted for 13 games, that was until Paul Lambert and Di Canio scored for a 2-0 and long awaited win. Would I mention the amount of perfectly good goals we had disallowed for no good reason, very suspect off side flags, dodgy penalties constantly given against us or the fact we often were reduced to 10 men?......fcuking right I will! ;)
4 Nigel Benn v Chris Eubank I & II November 1990 & Aug 1993 I couldn't stand Eubank, I loved Benn and the fact he used to knock out everyone in the first couple of rounds. The first fight Eubank deserved, but how the second fight could be ruled a draw was beyond belief! I have both of these fights in the house and it still annoys me that Benn was never given proper credit for his performance in the second fight. The funniest memory I have is when Benn's team threatened the DJ to stop playing Simply The Best just as Eubank came out for the fight, Eubank was in such a rage that he nearly threatened to pull out of the fight. Class.
5 The Whirlwind As much as I loved Stephen Hendry (even though he's a blue nose) I always wanted to see Jimmy White win one of those World Finals, I think he was in 6 altogether, unfortunately for him he faced Hendry in 4 of them. He was/is definitley the best player never to have won the World title, and if it wasn't for players like Alex Hurricane Higgins and Jimmy White no-one would have ever watched snooker.
The UEFA Cup final from last year is still too painful to mention, as is losing the league to the Huns on the last day of the season.
i thought the headlines blamed the "stupid boy"... anyway, blame it on the referee but not on us. if there´s someone that should decide what´s good and bad on the pitch is the referee. go cry on the church!
