upcoming releases of the cinematic variety

What you all want most to go see at the movies in the upcoming period of time?

For me, I'm psyched to see Burton's new one, Big Fish. I've read some previews and it sounds like a solid return to form (after that mediocre monkey movie). And Elfman's doing the score, of course, so it can't be all bad.

And Return of the King should be a blast. Comes out on my 21st birthday, so my roomies are taking me out to get hammered and then we're going to go cause a ruckus at the uberplex.

Those two pop into mind. Anyone see the Dir. Cut of Alien when it came out? Oh, and Master and Commander was quite good. OK, etc.

All I know is that I won't go see Cat in the Hat, for the simple reason there are only 223 words in the 84 minute movie. Maybe I will go see the third Matrix while it is still in theaters. Bad Santa looks promising for a Christmas movie, and I may go see The Last Samurai just to see a crappy Cruise performance.

Saw Matrix Revolutions on the weekend - what a letdown. I was one of the few people who actually liked Reloaded, so I wasn't that worried about the bad reviews - I should've been, cause it sucks - a few good battle scenes, but that's about it.

The only one that excites me is Return of the King. I wish they'd start showing the ads for the film, instead for the f-ing video game....

Bad Santa looks okay, not-your-average-crappy-holiday film. I probably won't see it til it's out on video, however

The Last Samurai could be okay as long as Cruise is actually believable and the story doesn't come off as too culturally insensitive. Either way, no one can ever touch Kurosawa when it comes to samurai movies.
