That's right folks, in case you missed it. Sci-Fi channel has produced a two part mini-series about the classic sci-fi drama. Part one was last night. Edward James Olmos plays Commander Adama. His performance was good enough that I didn't miss Lorne Green or think about Alpo.

The mini-series is a prequel of sorts, telling of the beginning of the Cylon wars. It's revealed that we (humans) created them and our attempts at playing God are whipping around to bite us right square in the butt.

Think "Wing Commander-lite" (movie, not the game) in terms of special effects and characterization. And that's not really a bad thing.

If you were a fan of the original series as a kid, you'll like this. Part two is tonight on Sci-Fi.

Let's assume that the following ships are roughly the same size. Which would you choose:

Imperial Super Destroyer Enterprise E model Klingon Battle Cruiser Battlestar Galactica Romulan Warbird Battleship from "Star Blazers" (with cool "wave motion gun")

As I said Klingon Battle Cruiser ( with Cloaking Device ) I used to have a model one as a kid, but left the cloaking device on and could never find it ).

Pleased to see you didn't mention the Millenium Falcon , otherwise known as the Giant Pizza.

After seeing how the Super Stardestroyer ended up in "Jedi" (going through the freakin' Death Star), I'd rather hang around on one of the "regular" Stardestroyers. I'm sure they suffered the same fate some time after "Jedi", but they're still pretty cool. :thumb:

Didn't only the Klingon Bird of Prey have a cloaking device? You see Klingon Battle Cruisers in Star Trek I and Star Trek VI. It's the cloaked Bird of Prey in Star Trek VI that torpedos the Chancellor's Battle Cruiser, and the Enterprise-A gets subsequently blamed for it?

That was my nerdy side, thank-you-and-goodnight :\peek:

Which Klingon ship was it that Kirk and crew took back in time to save the whales?

I thought all Klingon ships could cloak. The same with Romulan. Only Federation ships could not due to some treaty they signed.

I'll take the Enterprise--it has a bar, hot big titted women, better lighting, cleaner and a holo-deck.

It's nice you came up with this McDermott, because I've seen this wonderful boxset just hit the market. The box features a huge robot face in 3D. Very well done. How can anyone forget this red light moving from one side to another? Freaky!

I was very young when this played on TV, but it left a trace in my memory. :)

A Bird of Prey (wasn't that a Romulan ship on the original series? Doh!) re-christened "HMS Bounty"

NOT the same size, but I'd choose Space 1999's Eagles anytime!

Great choice! There are some really great "Space 1999" fan sites. Some people have done their own updates of the Eagle.

I'm a lazy bastard. Care to provide the links?

People updating the eagle, they have too much free time on their hands.
