how the hell do the choose who to sue? i'm just wondering cuz canada's own version of the RIAA has announced it will be launching lawsuits against file sharers soon. my friend has decided to stop downloading cuz of this lawsuit threat...but really...how big of a threat is it?
i've got around 600 songs on my computer and such, some of mp3s i found on official sites and legal downloading sites like epitomic. so should i be paranoid about them suing me? it's funny, they tell you they're gonna sue and they publish the details of some of the people they sued, but how'd did they ever go on about who is most likely to be sued? this sounds like a freaking fear tactic, cuz they can't afford to sue everybody who downloads. i'm skeptical that they're out to get me with their lawyers, but sometimes i still fear in the back of my mind.
and what about the free mp3s from official sources? do those get accounted as illegal downloads? ok, maybe it's a mute point to bring up since the majority of mp3s on people's computers are downloaded with p2p programs...but it's still a valid question.
any thoughts?
