I always try and get a decent song playing right at midnight, usually to make myself feel better about yet another New Year's Eve by myself :( but also to ring in the new year with something other than the teen-sensation-of-the-week usually on "Dick Clark's Immortal Rockin' Eve". I was thinking maybe something by the Who (I've been watching "The Kids Are Alright" DVD pretty much every day since I got it). What do you guys think you'll ring in the new year with? ![]()
A song to ring in the new year :\party:

I was downloading (& listening to) a live version of Leave Me Alone at midnight. Kind of appropriate. Never too keen on New Year's Eve anyway but stayed in this time with a consignment of beer as I just came off 3 hectic nights' work this morning & back in early tomorrow evening. I think night work should be outlawed, but maybe that's the fact I've been at it 6 1/2 years talking. Novelty DEFINITELY worn off. :\pissedoff:
Here's to 2004, and hopefully a new NO album to look forward to. ![]()

A Townshend/Jacko duet?
Maybe "Go Away Little Girl"? ![]()
Actually, here are my NYE plans:
I went to the video store today to rent Amelie and 24 Hour Party People for tonight. No luck, the 24HPPs were all rented out. ![]()
So I picked up Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, and The Meaning of Life, all of which they informed me, when I arrived at the counter, that I could get a free rental on, to make up for 24HPP being out. :D ![]()
So I'll be making lasagne, watching videos, and by midnight, drinking French champagne. Not sure if I'll be listening to music at midnight, but I'm playing Kill Uncle right now, to be followed by Bona Drag, Vauxhall and I, and my two new Real McKenzie's CDs. So I guess I'm ringing in the new year with Morrissey, a choice I'm sure EVERYBODY will heartily agree with.
I just watched "Lucas," which was not a bad movie. And, now I'm listening to Get Ready. Oh yeah, I'm still sober right now.
4 AM here. unfortunately my parents took control of the music stereo. so Bing Crosby and Julio Iglesias were the guests of the evening! ![]()
i "cleaned" myself up with some chords of Crystal live.... it was a relief!

Hey now, Pete is innocent (incredibly stupid, I grant you, but innocent), he's not even in the same league as Jacko. ![]()
Oh well, no hard feelings....(that's what Jacko said to his "companion"
)
I rang in the new year with "A Quick One (While He's Away)", off the The Kids Are Alright soundtrack. Quite possibly my favorite Who tune (at least that version) ![]()

Sorry, couldn't resist that one.
I read something the other day where Townshend descibed himself as [paraphrased] "culpable, but innocent." Whatever that means. But you're right, he's not in the same league as Jacko; First, he may have only been doing research, as he said (I find myself a bit skeptical about that); second, even if he was guilty as charged, it would be guilty of trying to buy child porn, as opposed to Jacko's ongoing activities (he said the other day that he's innocent, and he's going to continue to sleep with children).
Still like the Who myself, by the way, although now it has the taint, for me, of making me wonder if...
Installed a mp3 player in my car, well, hooked up a $29 Best Buy portible player but it works!! Been playing Pumped Full of Drugs. Amazed at all the errors and mistakes during this gig. They don't call it dope for no reason!! As it Is When it Was is my fave from this. "We make our living writing love songs about all the things in your life that go wrong." What a line, too bad he dropped it. Akward but a great line.
"It's costing me a fortune in guitar picks so you're gonna have to applaud louder."
Didn't listen to anything last night or today, so basically the first music I heard this year was the USC song Fight On and the Michigan fight song Hail To The Victors. Nice game there Pete Carroll.![]()
wasn't listening to music at midnight...but the first song in the car on the way to work new year's day was...
