Excitable Boy

Just wanted to say that yesterday I picked up "Genius: The Best of Warren Zevon", at Wal-Mart of all places

I like it pretty well, Zevon's dark sense of humor fits nicely with my own. So far, I've listened to "Excitable Boy" about twenty times.

Which brings me to the point of my post: I seem to remember seeing a "video" for the song (more of a performance) on the old VH1 (back when they actually showed videos), in which it's just Zevon jumping on stage with some female backing vocals behind him and singing the song. The problem is, I don't know if that's just something I imagined and thus thought really happened, or if it really was something I saw for real. In other words, I'm going

Oh well, I really like this CD and wish I'd gotten it earlier

Can't say that I've ever seen the video that you describe, but I also have really liked Warren's sense of humour over the years (isn't the Genius CD the one with the skull on the cover?).

When I was a bit younger, I bought the 45 for Werewolves Of London, but quickly became infatuated with the flipside of Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner , it's always a nice bonus to get a bit of a history lesson in a pop song about mercenaries :violent2: ; that is still one of my very fave songs of all time. The Excitable Boy album is pretty good, as is the follow-up album Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School, unfortunately the great live album of his Stand In The Fire, hasn't ever been reissued from what I can tell. The song Lawyers, Guns and Money is also a classic of the highest order.

EB is his finest work. It truly belongs in the Top 20 of R&R albums of all time. Unfortunately, he never matched nor surpassed it.
