no doubt's cover of talk talk.

Is it a cover of Talk Talk by the group of the same name, or the 1960's Talk Talk by Music Machine?
I don't like it - too polished and MTV friendly for me. Gwen's a bit of a style victim, isn't she?
Not as off-topic, though, as it would have been if we had also brought up Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" and The Animals' "It's My Life."
Now that would have made an interesting CD single: covers of 3 different songs titled "It's My Life."
But, still, I suppose, :topic:
*shrug. i meant to post it in the other forum--but in some sort of lapse it ended here. please move.
i still think no doubt did a great cover. the bass line is really pushed to the fore. its great, until the overdriven guitar bits.
...i'm actually a bit of a fan of Mark Hollis & Co...and when I played Talk Talk's version to my missus, she still thinks No Doubt version is better!!??..duh!!..Maybe Beth Gibbons should sing a third version..
i found the music OK, but i just can´t hear Gwen singing it. i like her voice but not on that song.
oh, and another "It´s My Life" for the record. Dr Alban´s ;)

Didn't some no-mark called Dr Albarn do a song called "It's My Life" in the 90s?
Actually, I quite like Talk Talk - Mark Hollis' solo album was better though. No Doubt are rubbish, mind.

Dr ALBAN! There is a man from the past. I think I've still got his album... ![]()
No Doubt however. THEY SHOULD BE SHOT.
:bag:

Dr. Alban's album, One Love........ bloody hell! How could he have faded away with such classics as Reggae Gone Ragga and Roll Down Di Rubber Man? '92 was indeed a vintage year. ![]()
Thought that No Doubt cover was ok at the start but it's starting to get on my nerves now.

Ugh... I hate this poor attempt at a cover!
I thought the drums at the beginning sounded like Billie Jean. Its mediocre at best.
Why would you release (ahem) a "greatest hits" with a cover version as your only new song?
Is that a cat squealing? No, its just Gwen...
Mind you, I hold the original dear to my heart. The bassline just pops, and the chord changes in the verses are simply beautiful! _

the original is one of my favourite songs of all time, so anything that might bring IT a new audience is fine with me, frankly. better no doubt than jessica simpson!
