He went back to run his candy factory; that prick blond kid just ate all the candy rather than do any work of any substance

Didn't he have a 'problem' with alcohol?

According to his 'net site he is in remission from Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma - a cancer......but is attempting to initiate new projects.:(

He ran off with Sheriff Bart!!!

Gene is one of my favorite actors. I hope he recovers soon.

Has anyone seen the Futurama episode based on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? Billy West does a spot-on impression of Gene Wilder and apparently while it was being recorded he was looking at a photograph of Gene to put him in the right frame of mind!

i heard willy wonka is being re-made. is this true? willy wonka and see no evil hear no evil are two of my favorite movies of all time, gene wilder rocks :)

You heard true, my friend. And to make matters worse, it's a Tim Burton miscariage. Early rumors had M Manson as Wonka but that never panned out. Chris Walken will be Slugsworth.

Manson?

side question: robert rodriguez (el mariachi, desperado, once upon a time in mexico) directing the next harry potter movie? is this true too? if you've seen any of the 3 movies just mentioned, you could kinda guess why this sounds odd.

He's been on "Will and Grace" a few times.....not that I was watching that show.....:nervous:

Can't believe we're having a Gene Wilder thread and no mention made of his role in "The Producers". That's a f-ing hilarious film (and greatly restored on the DVD). :thumb:

He sorta started to fade a bit after Gilda Radner died, hopefully he has a few more good projects left in him.

As for the Futurama episode...."Tell them I hate them!" (Professor Farnsworth) :D

Didn't realise that The Producers had been released on DVD (or is it only Region 1?). Any good extras on it? It was shown over here at Christmas so at least I've got a decent video of it now!

It's not "loaded" with features, but there's a good three-part documentary with Brooks talking about the film. The picture and sound quality is the best part (other than the movie, of course).

I don't think any of Brooks's films ever come in "special editions", a bit frustrating when you consider the possibilities of a "Blazing Saddles" or "Young Frankenstein" documentary.
