The Foo Fighters mainman helps out on the band's new album...

GARBAGE DRUMMING!

DAVE GROHL has been in a LOS ANGELES studio getting behind the drumkit with GARBAGE, for the band's follow-up to 2001's 'BEAUTIFULGARBAGE'.

The collaboration also meant a reunion for Grohl and Garbage sticksman Butch Vig, who produced Nirvana's legendary 'Nevermind'.

In a posting on Garbage's official website, singer Shirley Manson said: "Dave Grohl (or Mr Fantastic as our producer has taken to calling him) came by the studio today (January 6) and HAMMERED some drums down on 'Bad Boyfriend' and the result is fucking AWE-INSPIRING!!!!! "

She added: "OOoohhh....I am FINALLY having so much fun making this record. It feels like how you imagine making records would be. Exciting and creative and joyous. And we've just made so much progress in a week that I can actually imagine we might finish this damned thing after all!!!!"

Vig also said: "Just had Dave Grohl in to play drums on 'Bad Boyfriend' and it's absolutely slamming."

As previously reported on NME.COM, the studio where Nirvana recorded part of 'Nevermind' has been demolished in a freak accident involving a 10-tonne truck.

Smart Studios, in Madison, Wisconsin, were ruined in September when the truck veered off the road after hitting a car at a busy junction near the complex.

The studio, owned by Vig, was being used by Garbage for work on the new album. Dramatically, they had left just an hour before the truck hit.

The new as-yet-untitled Garbage album is due to be released in February/March next year and Vig describes it as "a lot noisier and darker, less poppy than the last album".

Geez, Dave's certainly keen on helping others out, like Killing Joke and Queens Of The Stone Age, along with his own band.

Let's see...

Drums for both Queens of the Stone Age and Killing Joke, finally released Probot (Which is awesome BTW) and now Garbage.

Love to see him doing stuff just for fun...

And no, I never was a Nirvana fan, they always seemed like a poor man's pixies to me.

You think they're dumb? I like Nirvana and have a few of their albums from "back in the day." But come on, their music is just simple punk rock and the lyrics aren't very good.

Kurt thought he was dumb.

Or so he said.

He may have been right. After all, what did he really have to kill himself over?

Maybe he had a vision of how disfigured her and her career would become in the future? Maybe he finally sobered up enough to realize he'd squirted out a kid with a talentless sloppy-cunt junkie who would sooner fuck a packet of cream cheese.

I hope she certainly is wearing a lot of eye makeup.

I liked a few of Nirvana's singles, but Nevermind put me to sleep. I could never listen to it all the way through without getting bored. However, Smashing Pumpkins' Gish and Siamese Dream never bored me. But now I'm just going to start ranting about how Nirvana overshadowed SP, when SP was clearly the better band.

I would like to say that Garbage opened for New Order in Oz, well not quite. They played before New Order in the Big Day out shows. The Order were on second last. I Brisbane I thought Barney made a nice tie in first he complained it was too ho then he said:"We only like it when it rains." :)

did anyone here the drumming he did on the last killing joke album??
