Forgot to turn off the oven after cooking my pie and chips for lunch :nonono:

The flat now reeks of burnt chips and burnt pie crumbs

I must say it smells quite horrible (although my pie and chips were lovely!!)

Whats your worst burnt food experience and most amusing burnt food story!?? :evil4:

That only happened once in my household and the family rows that followed created more fireworks that bonfire night!!!!!

I once burned a jacket potato in the microwave. I'm not quite sure how.

You must have had it in there for aaaaaages!!

Once when I was a student and very :smoking: me and my flatmate decided on having the munchies to cook a pizza... one of those individually wrapped ones from Tesco's

After about half an hour we sensed this burning smell! (and no it wasnt ours spliffs!) we went downstairs and he'd only forgotton to take the plastic off the pizza before putting it in the oven!! We pissed ourselves laughing for about 10minutes before realising that we'd have to wait half an hour for another pizza to cook which wasnt quite so funny! - so we rolled another spliff while we were waiting!!

oh the student days!! :D

Toast. I've had my toaster for over a year but I STILL can't get it right, it comes out as stiff bread (1 press) or charcoal (2 presses) D'oh:scratch: The smell hangs around for hours afterwards and I've set the smoke alarm off on many occasions.:nono:

I got home drunk one night and needed food. All I could find was a frozen battered cod fillet (probably some kind of Morrisons economy thing). I put it under the (gas) grill and went to the bedroom to sit and wait for it to cook.

I woke up 6 hours later to a hideous smell of fish (which lasted for weeks and weeks). The fish itself had turned completely to charcoal, all the way through. It's a fucking miracle I didn't burn the house down.

Not necessarily burnt food, but anytime my grandma makes collard greens, it's all I can do to keep from retching. The whole house gets clogged up with that smell. :nonono:

Once, when I was watching my younger sister, she decided to heat up frozen lasagne for dinner. My parents don't have a microwave, so we had to use a gas oven. Since I wasn't paying attention to her, she placed the frozen dinner, in a plastic tray, on a sheet of metal and heated it - to around 475 degrees. An hour later, when I notice she hasn't ate anything yet, I go into the kitchen, only to smell something wretched. I open the oven, only to find that the plastic tray melted to the metal sheet and the lasagne was burnt black. It turns out that the lasagne was supposed to have been cooking for 40 minutes with the oven at 350 degrees. I had to clean it up and my mother was fairly pissed when she came home, considering my sister ruined a metal baking sheet and the house smelled like charcoal and burnt plastic.

microwave popcorn, whether cooked properly or burned makes me gag. disgusting. my sister used to eat her weight in microwave popcorn when i was a kid and i've never been able to tolerate the smell since.

You know, charred food (like oral sex) gives you cancer. That crispy carbon substance contains carcinogens...so remember kids: Don't eat charcoal! (and lay off the oral sex... :nonono: )

The worst smelling thing I have ever discovered is the cooking of the southern delicacy known as Chitterlings (pronounced chitlins)....

now mind you, I've never been around anyone cooking hagus...so that might be as bad...but cooking chit smells like...well...shit smells better....so you get the idea!!!!

Some really gross things being told here, very nice

I also cannot stand microwave popcorn in any way shape or form :nonono:

From my days working as a cook, burning a big stock pot while cooking tapioca in a double boiler cause the bottom one ran dry made quite a smell. Liver didn't smell too good to me while I was cooking it :blah:

At work in the last couple of years, someone pushed 20 minutes on the microwave while cooking some sausage samples, instead of 2 minutes. It was at about the 8 minute mark when people began to take notice that there was something in their, and there was a terrible smell as well. Luckily, I spend most of my time outside of the office, so I didn't fare too badly :)
