2-0 to the Celtic:nod:

Sutton is out and Hartson's out for the season. Heart overrules the head on this one, but I'm taking Larsson for the first and Petrov for the second.

Cannae wait till me and John hit Barca town in a couple of weeks - I hope the bars are fully stocked with lager:D

Any win will do to give us hope in Spain.

Sutton's absence is a massive blow. We'll probably go 4-5-1 with Henke up front on his own. Hopefully we can keep Barca out and nick a 1-0 win to give us a fighting chance for the return.

According to this morning's papers - possibly no Balde or Valgaeren either.

Basically, you're fuct! :eek3:

Mind, just also read that Rangers are releasing Berg and Mols in the summer and are gonna pay off Capucho, Emerson and Nerlinger too!

Celtic 1 (Larsson)-Barcelona 3 (Ronaldinho, Saviola and Luis Garcia)

UEFA have ignored requests from all Spanish clubs in action tonight to have the games postponed after the bomb blasts in Madrid which resulted in 173 deaths. There will be a minute's silence observed and players will wear black armbands. Shocking decision by UEFA to proceed with these games at this time.

Since when have UEFA been known to have a teeny weeny bit of common sense? The Bhoys will win anyway.

CELTIC 1-0 BARCELONA THOMPSON Just back from the Irish centre, what a result, thought we held are own against a class outfit.

1-0 Celtic, fantastic result.:thumb: A clean sheet was absolutely crucial and apart from the odd scare in the 1st half I didn't think we were in any real danger. Great goal from Thompson after an excellent knock down by Larsson. Set up nicely for the return, it's going to be difficult (Balde & Douglas are suspended) but if we can score in the Camp Nou Barca need 3.

Kicking someone up in the air from behind was never a weird reason when I played the game, nor was fighting !

Barca's basketball team are a bit offensive too - what's that name? :eek3:

I don't disagree on Saviola's red card... that was quite childish and not even when I was playing youth leagues I would've done something so stupid, but what happened in the way to the showers should've been a couple of yellow cards and that was it... despite the fact that it was Celtic's keeper who started it I honestly think the referee overreacted and somewhat killed the game by showing two red cards (Not to mention he went foul happy afterwards).

Sometimes you need to referee in benefit of the game, not the books... regardless of that, Celtic played a good game and deserved their win... we'll see on the way back at the Camp Nou... 98K throats can always help.

Douglas stepped in to calm down an argument between Motta and Neil Lennon. Celtic are appealing against the decision.

I just read Phillip Cocu's statement, aparently Balde pushed Motta in the tunnels, motta turned around to say something and pushed Balde back and Douglas stepped in... both Celtic and Barcelona are appealing and I think both are right...

Sheesh, referees... what a joke.

The fact that it's Motta's fourth red card for violent conduct in the last 20 games doesn't give his defence a great deal of credibility.....

Motta should have been booked before HT for punching Balde in the face! Apparently he started the bust up in the tunnel by making a racist comment to Balde. The man is a notorious thug, four red cards now for the season. You can have no complaints over Saviola's dismissal either, Reizeger should also have been ordered off for his assaults on Pearson. Barca are a revered and respected name worldwide but the behaviour of some of your players and your supporters who jeered through the minute's silence left a bad taste in the mouth.

BS. If anyone had to be booked in the first half was Balde, he regaled in giving very harsh tackles limiting in leg breaking...

As far as I've read (And I haven't read otherwise from Celtic), the whole tunnel fight was started by Balde going after Cocu, Motta and Douglas rushed to keep them apart and the referee decided to punish both with red cards.

To me both Douglas and Motta should have the red card removed and play the next game.

After seeing news flashes and other bits, I side with that version.

Having read the papers over the last few days, it was definitely Motta and Balde involved in a bit of a "slap" in the tunnel.

If you watch the game back Mr Z, you will see Motta constantly with his hands all over Balde in the set play build ups, this is a lot more common on the continent, but over here it's regarded as obstruction. The incident that led to the tunnel incident was indeed Motta raising his hands to Balde's face. I hope no racist remarks were made in the tunnel. And hopefully this incident is finished with. Douglas should definitely be cleared as he was acting as a peacemaker.

Hopefully these incidents will hold no bad feeling between these two great teams, the last thing anyone wants is bad blood. Having won the FIFA and UEFA fair play awards, everyone around the world knows of Celtic's magical supporters, lets hope the game is played in the same spirit.

Onto the game....:evil4: Celtic don't often come up against teams with the speed and flair of Barcelona, hence the reason for Saviola having 3 clear chances to score! Ronaldinhio showed some great touches, but overrall I thought Celtic deserved it. Balde, Larsson and Pearson could have added more goals and Thommo was unluck with a great save from the Barca keeper in the first half. I was disappointed Celtic couldnae get a second goal and give us a bit of a cushion for the return leg. But hopefully Big Chris is back and we can get an away goal to put the pressure on Barca.

Roll on the 25th March, myself and John will be there, fingers crossed for a memorable game and a Celtic victory;)

Just saw in a paper today that Motta has said that Douglas was completely innocent, that Motta dragged Douglas into it to protect himself(?). Fair play, at least he's admitted that it was a wrong decision by the ref because of his own actions.

It was in The Sun, so make of it what you will.
