John Mcgeoch

Just read on Steve Severin's website that John McGeoch, guitarist with Magazine, Siouxsie and the Banshees and PiL among others died last Thursday... I'm shocked and sad - a part of my youth has gone... RIP John.

I've always hated when musicians like Jeffery Lee Pierce and David McComb have passed along before they should, and this news isn't good. Gonna have to play The Correct Use Of Soap this afternoon. Thanks John indeed. :(

How sad is this? 'Died in his sleep' he didn't even get to 50 and didn't really do the rock'n'roll life. RIP

That is such a shock to hear of that - I loved Magazine and those seminal Banshees songs he played on were just magic! 48 years old, passed away peacefully in his sleep.... that's eeire cos Rob Gretton went the same way - aged 48 as well.... It was a week ago and no mentions of this anywhere prior to this? :(

Erm, Bernard is now 48 too... Let's hope he's as strong as Keith Richards... Still, though it's always sad, better to go while sleeping at 48 than after years of illness at 60...

God, that's a shock. Top bloke too - anyone who put up with the egos of Devoto, Siouxsie and Lydon probably had plenty of stress in his short life though.

JM was one of the most imaginatve guitarists of his generation.

Not technically the top ofthe tree as a player but the imagination he used to colour his sound was undeniable.
