baseball season

i am just happy it's finally here and hope the cubs will do well.

Cubbies are cursed this season like always. We can already see this in Prior's injury that'll have him out til May. It seems like a slow-healing nagging injury that won't go away; so I think the tendon pain will keep on bothering him through the whole season. Even w/ that damn Trojan hurt, I'd still rather be a Cubby fan right now than a Dodger fan :\ohwell:

Isn't Prior on the juice, at least according to Black Jack McDowell? Wait, maybe he gets all his info from the Weekly World News. I do hope the Cubbies do really well this year, but as for that other supposedly cursed team, it was a great start for Pedro and the Bosox!!!!!! LIstening to sports radio, it's always fun trying to decide who's more bitter, Red Sox fan or Sacto Kings fans.

Sacto fans are more bitter; they like to boo their top player even if they now he's still injured, and it's amazing that he's even trying to help his team. Bosox are not too bitter anymore, they have gotten used to their loser-dom. Being second to NY is Boston's niche in the MLB.

I love watching these summer games, when the win-loss doesn't mean as much, and the players are just starting their steroids regimen

My city hosts a farm team for the Cubs. We will have a stellar season until the big Cubs start taking away our good players to save their asses.

I am looking forward to spending quality time at the stadium.

I used to live in a city years back with a Double A Mariners squad; the stadium in Lancaster is pretty nice for a minor league squad, but I never got enthused about the team mainly cause the team was Double A and not Triple A.

I like minor league baseball enough when I lived in Salem, which had a rookie Class A team that was first affiliated with the Angels, and then the Dodgers. Never spent much money there, but the games were entertaining enough. Saw Ken Griffey when he played for Bellingham, and Mike Piazza was in town for the 3 month season, and I swear, I never thought he'd be as big in the majors based on what he did in Salem. Also, Henry Rodriquez, who played for a few teams like the Dodgers and Expos (Cubs as well, I think) was one of my favourites at the time. I still think of some of the players from time to time, and how they probably got never really got their shot to the big leagues, like the Angels had a pitcher named Mike Erb, who threw harder than everyone else by far, with excellent control, never lived up to the brilliance of that one short season.

I remember when Henry Rodriguez was a great player with the Expos; the fans loved him and threw O' Henry candy bars onto the field when he came up to the plate.

they did that in chicago when he played here too, kinda silly. cubs won today :) but honestly, i ignore all the talk about the cubs winning the world series or making it to the playoffs, ive heard this every year after the cubs made it to the playoffs (89, 98, i was too young to care in 84)and they had terrible seasons. ill enjoy watching as many games as possible and listeing to dummy ron santo on wgn radio, but ill wait till september before i start thinking about playoffs. it is a weird feeling being a cubs fans when you are one of the favorites in the NL.

In any case, you are absolutely right -- "Oh Henry" as we used to call him, even got an endorsement deal from Hershey because of that!

I'm happy the baseball season is starting and, hopefully, my Expos will surprise everyone. All my life I have watched ungodly amounts of Sportcenter, and I remember H-Rod, as I like to call him.

strangest 2 games of the day (yesterday) tigers 7 toronto 0 and the w. sox giving up 6 and losing to KC in the 9th

i'm just excited about the prospect of san diego's mass-transit running late enough to actually do it's job: cart drunks around.

right about now, all of san diego has their fingers crossed in the hopes that the padres won't suck as much this year... after a month, we'll all realize that we were foolish to think that the pawds are capable of anything else but failure.

What is up with the D-Rays beating the Yanks twice? That's just odd...could it be George's purse won't be able to make it to the big show this year? (too early to tell, I know, but as long as that man is in charge I will not support the Yanks anymore)

Oh, and Detroit actually winning a couple of games? Someone check the thermostat in Hades...

this is a whole new season. plenty of chances for the pads to blow it, including giving up a 4-run lead.

Early-season stuff usually doesn't mean a thing, but it's still a bit bewildering to think the Tigers (who were awful last year) have been able to win twice now.

I'm looking forward to the first time the Yanks meet Rog and the 'Stros in interleague play (Mr. "I wanna retire as a Yankee", eh? :D )

yeah... the early stuff doesn't matter much... no reason to get excited by the bizzare, but the normal stuff (like the padres giving up a 4 run lead) i expect.

Dodgers won in the 11th of a single. It was a classic boring Dodger game, 2-1. At least Jose Lima got the win. LIMA TIME!

the low scoring games can be fun, if there are some hits being made. i hate it when it is nothing but a pitching game, but watching a defense in action can be fun.

The Tigers are now 4-0 , what a turnaround from last season, though it's a wee bit early for them to make post season plans.

On a worse note, the Mariners are 0-3 with inept pitching and hitting so far; looks like it might be a battle between them and Texas for last place this year
