Henry Rollins

Got tickets to see his spoken word show Monday night. Not as fun as seeing him in Black Flag or solo but I nothing better to do on Monday eve.

Hope it's a good show, couldn't see him here on this tour this time. Black Flag live was always fun indeed.

Love his Get In The Van book about his touring days with the Flag, lots of really great (and alarming) stories about those hectic times, and meeting such blockheads as Gene October of Chelsea.

HR appears to be obsessed with violence and his poetry and prose are aggressive--perhaps these are the product of his times. I think CB was more forgiving and wry about his fellow man--and his drawings say at least as much as his words :)

...by the way, I got an LP from CHARLES BUKOWSKY - 'Reads His Poetry', recorded live somewhere in Canada in 1980; it's quite funny !...

Live delivery of poetry is often much more revealing than reading the words--I an a fan of John Cooper Clarke for this reason It will be interesting to see what 'Twist' has to say about the gig--if he wasn't locked up after for some violent act provoked by HR's delivery :D:D

Top performer and top bloke - he even shared his 'hand rolled cigarette' with me at the Swan and Sugar Loaf in Croydon before he went on stage!

Tho' Henry Rollins did provide some of the tapes that were used for the Birthday Party live cd so he's not all bad...

He started with his impression of the Vagina Monologues and then went on an anit-Bush rant for quite awhile. Funny stuff even if I am voting against Kerry. Finally he started talking about life in LA, hanging out with stars (meeting Ike Turner and his stalking of Cheryl Crow) and recording with Shatner. He spent quite a bit of time talking about what a pussy he was when he went to the war as a USO star. He will be doing another USO tour later this year. Despite foaming around the mouth about Bush he feels he needs to show the soldiers support.

And his tales of playing with his pleasure zone are funny even the 5th time he related it.

3 hours. He never stopped to breathe or take a drink. Funny as hell and I'd see him again.
